I have a verbal agreement to sell my 80 tomorrow, but I am having serious cold feet.

It's a 97 with a lot mods, gears, armor, new 37 MTR's, locker etc. 230k miles, no issues except a leaky sunroof.

I am looking to buy a 100 since we now have two little ones and life is different.

I just need someone to tell me that its going to be ok, and that having a 100 will make me happy lol...

Is it going to be a daily driver? Now that I don't daily drive my LC, I really like the 80 and don't miss the 100 at all. Daily driver, different story. I would never DD my 80 with 37s.

Daily for either me or my wife. Depends on how far from work we will be. I'm graduating school and looking for a job.

Keep the 80 and buy the 100.

Get the 100.

Get the 100. When you're not driving it you will know your wife is safe inside of a tank on 4 wheels. Peace of mind is priceless.

I have two little ones and love my 100. So smooth and effortless to drive. I chose it over the 80 because of the V8 and front suspension...and I tow a camper. I also have a fj62 and rarely get to wheel either of them.

I had a built 80 with everything armor, sc, aux tank. Sold it.

Bought a 100. Mild build. Sold it.

Bought a lx450 fully built and restored. Loved it, got divorced and had to sell. I miss it and want it back. But, I'm now in the market for a 100. Ideally, and I mean this, I'd have both. For now with a commute and two daughters under 6, new wife who's into camping, I'm after a 100. If I could swing it, I'd buy a 200. They are just a bit out of reach.

If I were in the position to be able to do this, the thread would not exist.

Well, we don't know your finances- some people can do both but choose not too.

It sounds like there is a 3rd car in play from this post:

If so, why not sell the third and keep both? Or is the cruiser your only vehicle that you two share?

100 series would be my vote.

Those seat heaters are to die for. Seriously. If I was daily driving (or my wife was going to daily drive a Land Cruiser) it would be a 100 series all the way.

I should add, your wife and you have already come to the decision to sell the 80 since a buyer is coming out tomorrow. Why ask us over your wife's decision? She's the boss right? The 100 is much more family friendly, especially since you have kids. Umpteen times safer with all the airbags.

Pics are worth a 1000 words. I bought this truck this week. The PO was towing a 25ft camper when the "tail wagged the dog". Totaled the 100. He walked away with noting more than a bruised ego. That says something for Mr Ts engineering on these.

I love my 80, but for a DD, I prefer the 100 hands down. If you can keep both, that would be the best of both worlds but understand other factors come into play.

I was in the same boat as you. Had an 80 that I built over a few years with no kids. then we had a kid and we started taking him wheelin. All was good in the 80 and a family of 3. Along came kid number two and more lift and bigger tires. Pretty soon my wife was having a hard time lifting our 2 year old now and new baby up into the car seats but I pushed for the 80 and she caved. THEN came kid number 3 and things got too difficult. With no middle shoulder strap for the middle row we had to put kid 3 in the back but that didn't work because I carried all my trail gear and 35" spare in the back. We were stuck. The 80 no longer met our needs so it went to a new home to a fellow mudder and home we brought the 100. I'm mid way through the 100 build. 33's, sliders, and lift are all installed but bumpers are not on yet. It is no where close to as capable as our 80 with lockers. Do I regret selling the 80? Nope. Do I miss it every day? Yep. It was the wrong car for my family at the time. The 100 is the right car for my family right now. when the kids are older and out of car seats then I will find a beater 80 that my boys and I can turn into a hardcore crawler. Until then the 100 will have to do. If you don't sell the 80 now it WILL have to go when kid 3 shows up. It's not a matter of if but when. If the right 100 is in front of you then grab it. If it's not the right deal then hold off for the right one.

B- I was just telling my wife tonight how awesome they are now that it's getting cold here in Texas!

It really sucks that 80s don't have middle headrests in the 2nd row. With 3 kids, this is a must have to avoid whiplash. This is another reason why we DD the 100.

And, if you have it, the entertainment system is very nice for the kiddos too.

That said I do have a mod I am in the process of doing for the 80 headrest issue, will post up when it's done.

Didn't mean to sound snappy. We currently own two vehicles. A Camry and the 80. When the 80 goes we will have one vehicle. I am a full time student and haven't worked for 2 years. Currently looking for a job as I will be graduating in a few weeks.

No worries. So is it possible to put the camry up for sale? Or does it depend on how far of you need to travel? Just trying to brainstorm here. In 5 years, the camry will be worth much less. Your 80 will be the same if not more.

The more I think about it, I have to agree that the 100 would be better for your family based on what you said. While the 80 may be good for you, as life changes, dads/husbands make sacrifices for their loved ones. So if you can get what you want from the guy tomorrow for your 80, do it. Unless you decide to sell the camry :)

side note- not sure what you do or want you want to do, but I am a techie by day, so if I can help you out here in ATX, please let me know. I know some folks in SA too. email me if I can help.
