Looking for a few rigs to go wheeling / camping this weekend. I don't like to wheel alone.

Places I'm considering to go: (SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

Fresno Shaver lake area.
Death Valley
Mammoth Lakes / Mono lakes Area
Borrego Springs inland of San Diego
Any other Options...?

Anyone free?

Nothing too hardcore, just some fun wheeling and camping.

If I were in town this weekend, I'd go for sure. If you come up this way, Bald Mountain is the only trail currently open. It's a simple trail but has some fun offshoots. If theres any snow still up there, then the main trail is pretty fun.

I wish I had that much time! Wow, 9 days would be awesome.

Camping somewhere near shaver lake and doing local runs (i.e. blad mtn) would be fun. Ranger Station said that's the only one open as you did Freds40.

How much snow is up there right now? Blad Mtn gets interesting and challenging when there's snow on the trail.

From what I hear, there's drifts and where Rock Creek rd is in the shade theres snow and a little ice.

I'll mnake a decision on where I'm going by Thursday night so you have notice. Right now I'd like a better trail to camp on instead of a day run to Bald.

Shaver Lake is out, too far for only Bald Mtn being open and no remote camping sites. I'm down to death valley, calico, and mammoth lakes.

I would go out again but I just got back yesterday from a 4 day trip.
I recommend Last Chance. Lots of scenic trails your truck will do just fine out there.
There are cabins to stay in and lots of camping spots and miles and miles of trails.

Doesn' t sound like the dates would work unless your dates are flexable, but my wife & I are heading to the Lone Pine/Alamaba Hills area for some camping & light wheeling Nov. 24 thru Nov. 29.

Tent camping along with some easy to moderate wheeling with my mostly stock 62. Weather looks to be good. Will be camped in the Alamaba Hills...if interested shoot me a PM & I will get back with my cell, maybe sometime during the week we can hook up. I too don' t like to wheel alone but I do it more times than is wise.

Just remembered...Will be in Lone Pine area begining 11/24 but will begin the trip tomorrow 11/21 AM and be away from the computer/MUD until return on 11/29

Just returned from the Alamaba Hills you have pictured above. That's a great place to camp & use as a base for some prety good/fun trails not too far from Lone Pine.(Swansea Grade is a good one) Not certain exactly where your pic. was taken ...but plenty of great camp spots there.

Just did Charlie Canyon in Castaic behind the Castaic Sports Complex on Sunday with Spdwaver1. We went about 5 miles up a wash and it was a quick fun ride. Didn't take any pics unfortuantely.
