I was to get rear disk brakes today. Instructions called for backing plates removed, for which we had to pull out the axle shafts. Sooner than not, we got stopped cold when we couldn't find a way to get the C-clips out.

After some staring at it, we called ARB, only to be told that this was a REALLY old model, and they would first have to place a few phone calls themselves..........seems like that PO way back when was a real pioneer..........LOL

so, instead, I clean and vacuum the cruiser :D, try to seal the washer fluid bottle one more time, Michael fixes the tail pipe hanger on his truck and some other small things, and quickly, it was 4pm. At least, we got the prop valve installed (ever tried to match metric brake fittings to NPT by adapters ?). Good thing  we didn't do this the day before our run to Tip Top Mine.

Finally, we managed to get the shafts out, and the backing plates and drums removed. So now, the cruiser is on jackstands, everything is cleaned up and prepared; we'll put the differential together tomorrow. Nice thing is, Michael and I enjoy doing this together.....

Yes, I am doing some wrenching, too ;p
at the  level, I guess. ;)

Good deal Claudia, the drums on the 40 are a PITA. A lot of installers just cut the backing plates off, instead of pulling the axles.

No grinders or sawzalls (or even dremels) for board members of the HOA...:frown: :grinpimp:

Now that takes ALL the fun out of it!:frown: :D

unstuck as of now

o.k. we finished the rear disk brake install. Needed several calls to ARB given the ancient age of my locker; they had almost nobody left who knew this early model.........Tomorrow, we'll set the poportioning valve and then off to some wheeling for testing (The Rolls, likely, or Butcher Jones).

almost de-silted , or as much as you could in th desert............it's a wheeler, after all

so. I am officially UNSTUCK now.
