Waipo is not the best place to go now for tourist. The rental agency’s here have the gladiators and standard jeeps. Green sands is nice. Avoid going there if there is heavy rain at South Point.

Agree about Waipio not being great for tourists, the last thing the locals there want is a tourist tearing stuff up in a Jeep. That's something that you could definitely end up regretting.

Honestly, you can get-to everywhere you should be going, with an AWD crossover.

But whatever you decide to do, remember what they taught you in skool, and malama da aina.

Heard rental cars expensive as hell and hard to find from family back home... good luck and hope you don't pay an arm and a leg for rentals...

Definitely more tourists coming in now. I work near the airport and see the parking lot of wrecked rentals. Most go up for auction on copart. Some looks really nice, but underneath is hammered.
