Hey guys, I live around Power and Thomas, a stones throw from Tonto NF. Can anyone reccomend any decent trails near that area? I've seen the entrance to Bulldog, how tough is that trail?

Thanks

David

The Mesa FS office is just south and west of Greenfield and Mckellips. I have a permit for the area so I'm ready to go pretty much anytime. 'Cept this weekend cause I'm heading to Prescott tomorrow then Thrashing on the 60 Sunday.

Sunflower mine is a nice trail to run this time of the year. If you go in and out the southside of the loop, FR25 & 25A there is very little brush.

The first 5 pix are at Sycamore Creek, the rest are Sunflower mine. Pix #25 & 26 are at the "hardest" spot on the trail, Rob's truck is totaly stock.

Well, I remember a WHOLE lot more vegetation in the Creek by Sunflower Mine. We ran it in the fall of 2005. I am not sure I would do this in a brand-new truck. But once you are out of the Creek, indeed, very little brush and nice views on top. Getting up the hill could be interesting unlocked; it was VERY gravelly when we were there.

Sycamore Creek area up the ridge by Ironwood wash gets you out of the crowds pretty quickly......

That's on the north side of the loop? The south side is stocker friendly.

up to the turnoff to the mine was pretty easy; it was in the creek that branches were close, some rockcrawling, and then up the steep hill, those would be what I would consider the only hard parts of the trail. On a map, I think that would be the most western parts of the loop.

The steep section is the section maintained by the Garrett 4-Wheelers. FR3722

Garrett?

Wow we really need to update those signs. Hasn't been a Garrett club in years. We became Allied Signal then Honeywell.

AKA Identity Crisis 4x4 club.

Maybe it's not a sign thing, maybe John's just trying to show how old he is and how long it's been since he's been out there, remembering those historic signs?:grinpimp:

It's a John-thing. I'm 45 today and feel really old. :crybaby:

Actually, one of my best friends worked for Garrett--Honeywell--Allied for years. That's howI messed up.
