Shopping some new wheels and need some size info. I did a search but didn't find exactly what I needed. Actually, didn't look all THAT hard :o.
On my 62, what info is correct for the wheels ?

a) Bolt circle ?
b) Offset ?
c) Backspacing ?

The factory chromies are 15x7 or 15x6 ??

Thanks and a happy 4th !!!!

Stocks are 15x6 with 6 on 6.5 bolt pattern with 3.75" backspacing IIRC.

actually its 6x5.5

also there are a million threads on this exact question so try looking for 2 seconds before you make yourself look dumb

hint: first place to look is the faq

also fyi: my wheels are alloy 15x8 with 3.25 backspacing

I actually did go through the FAQ's...There was and is some conflicting info..Just as above..One says 3.75 backspacing while another says 3.25...You say 6x5.5, he says differently !! After 700+ posts I am well aware how to look up info. I got tired of reading through a bunch of worthless dribble that raised more questions than answers...Asking a pertinent question doesn't make someone "look" dumb...A comment like yours does. We are "supposedly" on this forum to help LC owners and hopefully learn things about Land Cruisers.. Thank you for the info, not your snide comment. :D

I did post the wrong bolt pattern it is 6 on 5.5

post count means very little. i do not appreciate your sarcasm.

there are 166 wheel backspacing threads in the 60 section... i do not see the need for another

1) I do not think it is up to you to decide what threads are needed or not needed. That is Woody's decision, NOT YOURS !!

2) May I suggest you not reading or replying to threads that you have no interest in other than harrassment.

3) It was you who was being sarcastic, not I. I was merely asking a question concerning wheels for my 62 !! :flipoff2:

the reason i replied in the first place is because there was incorrect information posted. so i helped by correcting it. so you are completely incorrect in saying my only interest in posting is for harassment.

i apologize for being a little bitchy. it was unnecessary.

i do recommend reading a bunch of the old threads because it really helps to see what other problems people have run into. picking a wheel can be difficult. There are different materials they are made out of, different widths, different wheel shapes that can all affect if the wheel fits on your truck. Some steel wheels have stamped holes that push in further than other steel wheels and you can have caliper clearance issues. So one steely can work with 3.75" backspacing and another wont work unless its 2.5". Stock backspacing is 3.75" but it is recommended to use 3.5". I personally went 3.25" because it was available and I wanted a little extra space for the alloy wheels because i heard there could be clearance problems (calipers, tre, etc). A lot of people who go SOA use 2.5" to give the truck more width/stability. Using a smaller backspacing like this will put more stress on the bearings/steering but is still okay if you keep up with maintenance. Also dont forget to match up your wheel width with your tires and keep in consideration if you plan to go bigger in the future. Also wheel weight.

I was a bit too sensitive as well...I think we take this stuff way too seriously sometimes :o!
You are definitely correct. There are lots of complexities when shopping for wheels. Thanks for the additional wheel info !!

^^^^^^ Chat too

Back to the wheel issue..Thanks to tcln, I think I'm headed in the right direction as far as the correct size is concerned. Looked at lots of threads concerning wheel styles and I definitely feel that "modern" or "blingy" designs are not the way to go. They just do not look right on a 60/62 Series IMO. I am leaning heavily towards the AR type 23 (I guess it is modern, but in a simplistic way :grinpimp:). I wish I could find a simple steel version of that style, actually. My first car, a '77 Scout II had a steel wheel very similar. I guess you would call it a 5 spoke star design ??? If anyone knows of something out there that fits that description please, let me know. I am in no hurry, BTW. 2nd choice would be the late model 80 series factory wheel. It looks pretty good on a 60 too. So, I know wheel designs has been covered 1,000+ times by now so, I am pretty much done with this topic. PM me if you know of something that fits what I'm looking for. Thanx for the help !!:clap:

if you use an 80 wheel then you will need wheel spacers.

are you looking for a black/white steel wheel or chrome stock looking?

I want a set of chrome Porsche cookie cutters so when I lower my 60 I will look fly like a pimp.

If I go with steelies I might have them painted (or pc'd) a real bright silver or light anthracite/graphite...I'm not real big on black wheels. White, kinda doubtful..Would rather stay away from chrome. I like a polished finish better. :hhmm: Really depends on the wheel style and material.
