I just noticed this insert on the backside of what I thought are factory wheels. Is this normal on factory wheels? 96 lx is my model

Here is a pic of the lug nut. You can see wear on the end where it has made contact with the wheel, instead of seating further down in the stud hole. It seems to me these two items do not belong together. Any help is appreciated

Sorry here is the pic

There are two types of lug nuts and wheel inserts.
Straight shank and conical, those may not be the technical names. The two types don't mix.
You can look those up here. One place is a thread titled something like "Did you know..."
Also, I think on Wits' End website there is an explanation of the two types and which cam originally on what year wagons.
If you dont have the right style lug nuts you can order OEM ones from Toyota or Wits' End.

Thanks for the responses. After some more searching I think mine has 93-94 wheels on it. Can anyone confirm with these pics?

That is definitely a 93-95 wheel. Should use the conical (tapered, acorn) style lug nut with that one.

I have a 96 and the PO had some issues and u discovered recently that I have one shank lug wheel and have 4 tapered lug wheels. I've been running them for 91K that way and didn't know it.

Thanks. These are all 4 the same. Been that way since I got it, and probably been on there for a long time

If they are all the same then you do not have the correct lug nuts.

Look at what @NLXTACY posted. You need the middle style but.

Sorry that’s what I was saying. All 4 of the wheels are the same and new lug nuts are coming soon. Thanks again for the help
