When i bought My GX ... after getting home i realized two things
1) no owners manuals
2) there are locking lugs on my wheels and I have no key to remove them

... I can buy new manuals no problem

But is there anyway to find out what locking key i need to get the wheel locks off ... its an OEm part as im sure many of you know but there are dozens of patterns ...
is there any info i can find on my vehicle to figure out what lugs i have or do i just need to visit a dealer and see if they have one that matches? ...
Im sure some mechanic probly stole mine for his tool box at one some point...

PS ... I know the tricks to get them off without the tool ... I just like the Fact that its an OEM part that belongs with my vehicle ... just as if a tool was missing from my OEM tool kit ... i would find the matching tool to complete it ... cuz im weird like that ... but im not loosing any sleep over the issue

The factory wheel lock is made by McGard and you can't get a duplicate key unless you have the code that comes with the packaging as a sticker. Look in the owners manual for this sticker or some affix it to the inside of the glove box. You can probably order a replacement at the stealership for cost.

How about this: Use one of the tricks, and get those removed...and I'll send you my (4) OEM locking lugs and the key.

My aftermarket wheels require different lug nuts.

I'll even pay shipping - Just be sure to "pay it forward" sometime. PM me you info, and I'll drop them in the mail.

My wheel key is in a tiny black pouch, and it was strapped to the jack. I almost ordered a new one before I found it. Look for the little black pouch before you give up.

470SNC ...I have no manual but I'll check the glove box

Orion ... thank you sir thats awesome of you! I'll probly be taking you up on that offer ... I do have set method wheels coming so now I'm thinking they may not work on them lol

Hoosier Daddy... I didn't see the Lil black bag around the jack when I checked yesterday just I can check again to see if it fell down in the quarter panel or something. ..

Thanks for the help guys ... I'll update ya late

I don't keep these keys in the place were a crook would look after smashing the window.
So look better or try to contact the previous owner?

LOL iv looked better ... removed panels thinking "a person could hide a Kilo in here"...

The car was bought from a dealership .... from the 4 page carfax its seems as thought the most mechanical thing the previous owners did themselves was put gas in the car and were in FL and then the car was sold at auction before so i doubt i could find the previous owner and im going on a man hunt for lug key ... and they probly wouldn't care or know what i was talking about ...

new tires arrive today and wheels come Friday ... SO im just gonna remove them with trickory and if they fit the new wheels ill take Orion up on his offer ... then I'll proby find the key next week

or you find a kilo :beer:

Ha...yeah, I think you'll need new lug nuts for those wheels.

I'm happy to send 'em if the OEM lug nuts will work, but I think you'll need acorn-style lug nuts. I use the Gorilla splined lugs.

Post pics once you get them on the truck...!

yeah i think your right ... I had the splined lugs on my last truck ... im gonna start a Build Thread once I start bolting things on

Yup I run Methods, you need aftermarket acorn lugs for those wheels, the oem ones wont work.

Well I guess my case is solved then ... But i hope everyone is a lil more educated on the subject of Toyota Locking Lug Nuts that apparently no one really wants HAHA! ...

If anyone else needs to remove the locking lugs, and don't want to drop the money on a new key or the "special" removal tool they sell at the auto stores:

1. Get a 3/4", deep well, 12-point socket can be hammered over them quite easily.
2. Slap a breaker bar in the socket and unthread.
3. Then you just put the socket in a vise and use a chisel to knock the wheel lock out of the socket.
4. Repeat on remaining wheels

My GX didn't have the wheel lock key with it either, so I just replaced all of my wheel locks with regular lug nuts.

Thanks BlackUSK56 ...That is what I did to get the rear off ... but knocking out the lug wasnt happening ... I actually used a 19mm 12-point (couldnt remove the lug) & and a 20mm Hex (also still stuck) ... havent done the front yet bc I ran out of donor sockets lol ... and i didnt use a deep socket i used standard so maybe thats why its hard to get out ....

here is a you tube for someone sent me if you need a visual --->

UPDATE:

GOT'EM ! ... this tool worked great wish i would have had it a week ago ...

So the verdict is if you loose your key and don't know what your code is .. and the mechanic shop dont have the special tool... go to auto parts store and spend 10 bucks ... buying a replacement socket that you ruined by hammering on cost about $4 ... and You will need an impact to get it to bite
