2 inch lift , 33x12.5x15 BFG KM2 , 10inch wide -32mm offset steelies + 5mm spacers upfront to clear steering arms and calipers - very tight fit but work very well and rarely rub, just the occational full lock articulated (Did rub more when I temporarly removed front sway bar)

I'm less worried about rubbing and more worried about gearing. Are 33s going to be too burdensome on an already overtaxed engine? Will they make acceleration and climbing hills even slower than they already are?

No, the Prado came with 4.88 gears. That is an incredibly low gear set. So, a slight increase in tire size is not going to make a drastic difference as it would on a higher geared diff. And, if you have done any tuning on your truck, it will be no comparison at all to even a stock tired Prado.
The difference in that is night and day. The truck labors under even stock tire size uphill with the stock tune. I have driven mine with both stock tire and 33" tires at stock tune. There isn't really a noticeable difference between the two. Still just slow. And, if you tune the truck, it will make you no difference.

So, when you’re talking “The truck labors under even stock tire size uphill...” are you talking about the Prados with the 2.4 engine?

Yes, the 2LTE engine. The factory tune on them is very conservative. I believe mostly because the EGT's get so incredibly high, and more fuel to it would crack the head in a parking lot , much less driving on the highway.
Once they are tuned and properly set up however, they run great and are very drivable.

Actually the KZJ Prados came with 4.3 diff ratios, not 4.88 like the LJs. So putting bigger tyres might effect it's performance. Infact it's common in europe to swap to 4.88s, and then you'll have no trouble at all.
