I need some help identifying what was supposed to go here. I bought my '07 a couple years ago and noticed the previous owner had done something right below the RSCA Off button and to the right of the mirror adjustment switch. What remains now is a "plug" with a hole in the middle, right now covered by electrical tape. What is supposed to go there? If there frequently is just a blank plug, any ideas what the previous owner may have had here?

What is the function of the "set" switch? This is what I plan on putting in that blank.:)

Rear e-locker switch in the 98-99 Hundys. Blank from 00 up. Previous owner could have had any number of different switches or aftermarket gizmos there.

How hard is the wiring for the OEM switch to run ARBs front and rear?!?

Near impossible to tell, unless they left wiring behind the plug leading to something. That's a factory blank the PO drilled a hole in for something custom. Maybe they had aux fog lights or something dumb on the front and removed them before selling.

It's the set switch for the factory tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). When you rotate the tires or change your tire pressure you use it to reset the system. It was an option for 2005+ vehicles I believe.

The blank is for the night view option. I have that in my truck. Neat little feature but not worth fixing if it ever goes bad.

I'm a little confused. I drive a 2002 LC but I have that rear e-locker switch in mine, as pictured above. Am I missing something??

I'm talking about the DIFF LOCK dial in SR.GRINGO's pic. That's what I have in my 2002.

Probably a rear locker.

Someone may have had wishful thinking or maybe some one put a rear locker in for you.

Easy. Start with an 80 Series switch that has the F&R locker option. It will fit right in the factory opening. You will need to use a relay to control the pump. I used the CKSA12 compact pump and wired it in parallel with the front locker solenoid (my 98 had a factory rear already). The CKSA12 is fast enough to engage the locker with very little lag time.
In most cases where I need a front locker I can use the extra few moments to pause and reflect on the wisdom of whatever I'm about to attempt anyway. :grinpimp:

Yep. You either have a rear locker that someone added after the fact (nice!), or the switch for one that was being used for something else (not so nice but good to have if you want to use it later).

Either way, the factory e-locker option went away in 2000 when ATRAC and VSC became standard equipment.

Or he could replace it with a diff lock dial.... but that's gonna cost more like $1500 to do it right.

no, just put in only the Front and Rear locker dial from an 80, and live it up vicariously by looking at it every so often and wishing for a miracle... :)

That is very interesting! I did buy the LC from the previous owner who did a bunch of mods, but I didn't expect the rear e-locker option to be one of them. Now tell me this...how can I tell if he actually did it correctly/properly, as opposed to simply putting in a phony switch? I have driven in deep snow with both center and rear diffs switches engaged, but how do I know if the rear diff actually locked??

Thanks for your help fellas!

well, you could see if there is an electric gizmo attached to the rear pumpkin to ascertain if there likely is an electric locker in there. Or see if there is a copper tube coming out and going to a tank of some sort, but I suppose you would have seen the compressor already. You can also lift up the rear and spin a tire and see what happens when you throw the switch.
Unfortunately, better not to get your hopes up, I imagine the seller would have made a big deal of it having a rear locker, so more likely it was just used as a generic switch of some sort. Then again, miracles do happen...

Go to a gravel parking lot, roll down your windows, and engage the locker switch. Then proceed to do some very tight slow turns in the gravel. If the rear locker is engaged then you will hear the rear tires dragging as both are trying to go the same speed.

Make sure the center diff lock is not engaged for this test.

Why not?

You could always just look at the differential and see if it has the locker actuator, but that might be too easy.:flipoff2:

Because tight turns with the center locked will also make tire dragging noises. He wants to know if his rear lockers exists/works, so having the center activate will just throw you off.
