I bought the beatsonic one and I can't for the life of me get the clip removed.
I'm ready to try to unbolt the gas pedal I'm so frustrated. I can even tell if I'm actually even depressing the clip.

Anyone have a "hack"?

thanks in advance

I used electrical connection release pliers (below). It still took some fiddling.

i think these would be easier to use. It looks like it would be down right easy, if I'm picturing it correctly in my head. I used a telescoping mirror that has small LEDs and a light shinning in the mirror at the right angle to reflect onto the plug so I can exactly where the tab is, so i have a pretty good idea of what i need/how to do it. Only unknown is the size of the jaws (if they're too big)

The pliers I had (I think they're made by Lisle) work best when you can apply them in line with the connector and pull straight back. I couldn't do that with the accellerator pedal plug. I managed to get them to work kinda sideways. The offset ones might work better.

Given how hard these plugs are getting to release I think I'm going to end up with a couple different sets of these pliers.

the ones i bought are gonna take a few days to arrive. I'm taking the truck in tomorrow for a multi-stage paint correction and some PPF - its supposed to rain for the next 5 day, so it'll be a week at least until I can see if the set I bought is going to work. I'll report back how well they work

I watched GX Bob video first when I did mine and it popped right out, which is rare for me I hate those connectors! It always helps when I can visually see it done but even then I end up cursing and fumbling around. Usually, but not this time. About 9 minutes in-

I mounted the controller lower than he did and you can't see it as obvious as his location. I got it more for the lockout than anything else so wanted it more hidden but all in all like what it adds a lot.

One of the guys that I spent last week with in Canada is a retired service writer and 74 he is 8 years older than me. We were talking 4x4's we have had over the years and I asked him when those stupid connectors came out because I couldn't remember exactly and I hate them that much. He said the early 80's and then they started showing up everywhere in just a few years, that was on American vehicles. He is from the UP of Michigan so worked for American (Detroit) dealerships.

I watched the gx bob vid previously. Funny how theres a jump cut and it doesnt show how much he struggled. Also, he's a little phillipino guy, I couldnt get myself and booth my arms under the dash far enough to use both arms. As far as the connectors. I know by the early 90s they used molex plugs. Much easier to unclip and if a wire broke, easy to install a new pin. As much as they suck, unwrapping the tape around a complete harness on a 70's chevy to trace back to where a problem(short) was, was way worse
thanks for your response.

I used the pliers and this mirror (to see where to place the pliers), and I had the plug pulled in a few mins, including the time it took to wiggle under the dash (and I a large man) and remove the lower dash piece. It took around 1 min from the time i got the mirror in place to getting the pliers in place. came off 1st try.
