I've heard varying reports of how it is no longer allowed to drink in any of the tellico campsites such as stateline and big cove.

Is this true? What are the tickets like etc?

I poked around on the SFWDA site and didn't get anything...

We didn't drink (in the open) last August. Had a visit or two from the rangers.

So long as you are discreet I think they will leave you alone....At GSMTR last year they rollled in when I was visiting the flordia crew by the river and they were more conserned with anything that would attract bears (and said they would ticket for food/coolers/etc left in sight). Same routine when I was up for Upstate Cruiser runs also. DISCLAIMER - don't know ticket price but taking chance on rangers mood for the day on whether or not you get a ticket.

Your best bet may be to get off the beaten path. When I went up on MLK weekend we camped for free at McNabb Overflow camping. I think as long as your not at any of the campgrounds on trail 1 you should be solid  .

I've heard the same thing too. And it's not just for this event either. Maybe the Park Rangers are strongarming wheelers to camp at Crawford's where you can throw back some coldies, I dunno. The only thing I'm worried about is the drive to the trails from Crawford's - I'm running drive flanges up front so it'll be wear & tear on my front driveline. I'm thinkin I'll haul all my trail spares in my tow rig & park it near the trialhead. I'm headed out later today so I'll see you guys up there :bounce:

I am pretty much always going to try and rent the cabin on trail 1 so I don't ever have to worry about that crap :)
