Whats my vehicle's worth? Need expert's opinion!

Hi guys,
I need your expertise. I have a clean 93, stock, triple locker FZJ80. 3 owners (me being the 3rd-owned for a month) with a clean record.
1st owner was the uncle of the 2nd owner who owned it for 26yrs and always had it serviced at a dealership(carfax).
2nd owner the nephew owView attachment 2239081View attachment 2239081View attachment 2239105ned it for 1yr and spent 16k on maintenance.
main fix:
-valve adjustment and gasket
-engine rod&bearing
-Cooling system hoses
-Rear main seal
-Crank shaft seal
-Brakes, shocks&coils......
-244k on the clock. Will post interior and such when daylight. I appreciate the help guys.
(Bought it from a co-worker that owes me big times-he practically gave it away)

Pics of the engine bay and under-carriage would be useful. I feel for the 2nd owner who paid $16K, that was not a good deal.
 
All the receipts and such are nice. But money spent on maintenance and repairs does not add to the value. Guys selling often take the position that it does, but having purchased 20 different '80s over the years, I have never factored in what someone has spent on the rig, what required repairs thay have done or what standard maintenance they had performed. Admittedly a lot of the rigs I purchased were parts rigs or projects. but by no means were all of them. I currently have 4 that are registered, insured and on the road trails. Just sold another.Another couple that were road rigs until sold, a couple were in virtual dealer new condition when purchased and when sold.

If a rig needs repair or has neglected maintenance, that lowers the price. Being in correct nominal condition does not raise the price. Any money spent to keep it there is just the price of owning and using the rig.

If you want people to chime in with their opinions... and that is all it will be is OPINIONS as to the value... then the condition of the rig is what matters. Lots of pictures and mention of any actual upgrades is what people need to see.

Any others. Please chime in. Again this is a well maintained 80...all past work performed were preventive and the normal wear and tear due to age.....all stock no mod except radio and front and rear camera.
Will post more pics in the morning.
 
Clean, well kept and cared for, used gently with minimal mods... it might be a really nice prize. ;)

Well you can buy an imported triple locked one with 91,0000 - 115,000 miles in great condition with cool options like console fridge for 15- 17k either gas or diesel.


Personally the bearing replacement on yours would leave me wondering if it was done right and why was it done? Did it have a knock that someone threw some bearings into just to sell? I'd be turned off on that.
Yours at 244k, stock head gasket I'm guessing..

Also that maintenance record list is very small, no axle rebuilds? It should've had a radiator, fan clutch, and countless others
I'd say maybe 5-8k if your lucky. If it was unlocked I'd say 5k

It sounds like you're trying to flip this truck? You can post it in the vehicles for sale section and see what you get but just a warning it can get pretty ulgy in there quick if you don't have a lot of detailed photos .

Ok. Got more pics....
Def will be keeping her. My goal is to maintain her so we can reach 400k+ as a weekend cruiser to Mendocino counties.
My co-worker is a software engineer and $$ is plentiful. Lexus advisor recommended the maintenance work and him being a software engineer...an open check book was second nature to him.

I am not seeing much that makes this specific truck unique or valuable. I do see lots of PM needed starting with the heater valve. The 16K in mechanics work sure didn't go far by the looks of it.
 
If you're not selling it, what's the point of this thread? You own it, any opinion of value is just that. Yours is the only one that matters. Enjoy it.
 
I have the same truck/ year color minus the lockers. do the lockers work?
nice find. I’ve spent the last decade base lining and keeping my truck 100 % toyota.
here in the Denver area I’d list that truck at10,000. Lockers and cloth interior are very desirable assuming the lockers work.
 
Values will vary depending on the local area, and how motivated the seller is. I would say this truck will sell in the 9-10k in my area--if the lockers work, doesn't need immediate ball joint rebuilds, nothing is leaking, and no weird sounds/ticks coming from the engine or drive train.
 
Looks like a solid runner. Agree with @MarkW on what reflects in value. Mileage is the most important figure in resale value besides any abuse or damage. Before I get roasted on that statement, I always consider past maintenance, interior, exterior condition in accessing value as well. But when it comes down to book value mileage is king. Being that landcruisers' values are off the blue book value you can add buyer demand in any given area. The lockers certainly add value as well.
If it were selling in the south east U.S. I would say it would bring $9-10k. More if the mileage was lower. Without lockers $7-8K. Just my opinion based on my area and what I've seen for sale.

Gotta love the cloth seats though!
 
Thanks....keep it coming guys....def not selling it. Just need a gauge of what I have from people that knows fj80s. I live in the silicone valley so price may vary from other states. Happy to say the lockers engages and no abnormal weird sounds out of the 80.
Don't want to kick a dead horse but I really don't know what I have. Im very happy and pleased with the performance of the vehicle- just that I see other ads on CL with leaking this and leaking that and still fetching for 7-10k and w/o lockers.
