What's everyone doing for headlights in right hand traffic countries?

Did a bunch of searching and reading, but didn't come to any conclusions on this. What's the current favorite solution for headlights? Round headlight conversion from a 3 door + sealed beam replacement of choice?

I just bought a 96 KZJ95 with typical left hand traffic headlights, and someone swapped one of those obnoxious bright blue LED kits into it as well. I HATE being blinded by others on the road and refuse to do that to other people myself. Got some standard H4 halogens to swap in for short term, but in the medium short term I still want something with a beam pattern for our traffic.

Found a couple sellers on eBay selling composite headlights. Contacted one of them and he claims it's for a right hand traffic country. No reviews though. Skeptical.

Research continues, please share any solutions you've come up with.

Edit: PNs for right hand traffic composite headlights 81110-60800 and 81110-60800 RH, 81150-60620 and 81150-60640 LH.

Obviously to do the round headlight conversion, you'll need the trim, bucket, mounting to retrofit. In case you decide to go this way, OEM glass round headlights are available for $20 on up (this set was $32 shipped to me), and includes a wiring harness with relays to power them directly off the battery:

I am in the same boat , changed to Chinese led bulb , but really not very happy .
I tell you what I would like !
Keeping the round glass as simple as possible , but with more sharp light .
I do not like the after market multi optic lens , nor the high temperature bluish lights .
But it seams difficult to find a good round headlight !

Does it take normal round sealed beams, or can they fit?

Look at Euro beam headlights, made by Hella or Cibie. There are also plenty of decent LED options, make sure you stick with solid brand LED sealed beams, JW Speaker, Hella, etc. Don't put an LED bulb in a housing meant for a halogen bulb, and don't use any of the no name utter garbage available on Amazon or eBay.

I too hate blinding others...and was able to find a pair of aftermarket LHD version head lights for my JDM '97 Prado. They are made by Depo and are made for pre 2000 models so they are glass front, not the plastic that will haze up👍. Although I have yet to install them. 🤦‍♂️

Perfect! Can you share the part numbers?

The stock Toyota kits are really nice. And easy to put in. I did it to my diesel 70 series pickup and the results were very very good. They are also very reasonably priced. I'd suggest that is a good option. If you have any trouble, @cruisermatt got me my set with very little fuss.

The results and bright and stock (at least sort of), which I like.

IMHO the most underrated aspect to the kit is the wiring harness. The stock config routes power from the battery through the switch on the steering column: this Toyota OEM kit routes power directly to the light sockets from the battery, with the switch only activating the relays. Huge difference if using halogen bulbs!

I was a little dubious about adding a couple more relays under the hood but the wiring and harness were of the usual high Toyota quality.

Alrighty, looks like I'm doing a 7" round headlight conversion and using the factory Toyota harness and 81110-60P70 headlights.

I have my factory RHD headlights aimed super low right now to keep from blinding people, but can't see much. The season is progressing and it's getting darker and darker as I head to work, so this got bumped up the priority list.

Thank you to everyone for the help.

Alrighty, final score.

Factory parts turned out to be NLA through Toyota. Bought these on eBay at ridiculous cost, but got it done.

PN's for surrounds + headlight mounting buckets/aiming system/headlights:
53131-60050
53132-60050
81110-60840
81150-60660

This was all the bits to install 7" round headlights, but came with RHD Koito lights, swapped in the LHD lights from PN 81110-60P70 above. Haven't installed the harness yet, expecting it to take some modification to work on my Prado. Also have a set of super dee duper bulbs from Daniel Stern, not installed yet.

Install was very straight forward, mounting studs for the bucket assembly were in place, just had to supply my own nuts.

Comparison when mounted.

Comparison of beam patterns. The sharper image on the left is the new Koito 7" round headlamp - obviously also because of the slant.

The previous owner had commented on how DIY friendly this vehicle was to work on. I admittedly didn't take it very seriously, but by gosh he was right. There was a cutout in the bumper skin exactly right to fit the headlight surround. Incredible.

Round headlight surrounds had mounting points for the grill, everything fit perfectly. Headlight swap alone is very straight forward and fast, maybe half an hour. Will aim them when it gets dark, and install the relay harness and super dee duper Daniel Stern bulbs when I get around to it, probably later in the year when more of my driving is in the dark.

Hey All,
I've now put 4 sets of Depo LHD (plastic lens) headlight units in my KZJ's and they have been great. I always use led bulbs as well. The leds take some creative wiring though because they disable the high beam warning.
I got them from Italy on Ebay. Not as nice as OEM glass but work well.

That definitely looks better than my 7" round conversions. That's the only thing I don't like about mine, but I'm definitely a function over aesthetics kind of guy. How's the quality? Around here, Depot is seriously hit or miss quality wise.

Hope your LEDs are maintaining proper beam pattern and not blinding the crap out of others on the road.

I also have the 7" round Koito RHD lights with the beam pattern that slants up to the left which came with my conversion bits. If anyone in a RHD country wants them, they're free to a good home, just pay shipping. They are worse than useless here in the USA.

I've found the Depot ones are adequate. Definitely not top quality but certainly better than some other aftermarket ones I've tried. The OEM's are just too spendy for me.
I am very careful with proper headlight beam alignment. It seems that in some states and provinces, you don't even have to change out the JDM headlights to pass the import inspection which is surprising.
Here in BC, we have to, or you can't get insurance.
Nothing more iritating than LEDs in your face.

That's how it is here. Mine was imported into WA state and I bought it and brought it here to Oregon exactly as it came off the boat from Japan. Oregon inspection involved looking at the VIN and have a nice day. Insurance companies never even asked me.

10,000% agree! I wish they were ticketed heavily here.

These things were sold in Europe where they have left-handed cars, there are huge parts breakers in places like Lithuania who list on ebay - you might well find a used pair there. You could try searching by part number or by description (in German) on ebay.de That said, if you don't mind the looks, the round lights are at least glass and won't get cataracts like plastic lights (one of the very worst - of an admittedly long list - 'improvements' they have made in modern cars imo).
