Yes, used the harness. All appears to be working properly.
Interesting. I wonder what I did differently. Mine's a '96 Prado TX, wouldn't expect a wiring harness difference in one year of essentially the same vehicle. When I removed the harness and went back to factory wiring, the headlights got noticeably brighter, and now don't leave the low beam filament on with the high beams.

High beam indicator should be plenty bright.

You're 100% correct. I pulled the harness and the lights work as they should and the dash high beam light is a normal brightness. Thanks!

Great, glad it worked out.

You're not losing much with the harness. It was lower voltage drop on mine than the factory wiring, but not fantastic. I'll build my own harness at some point, get far lower voltage drop, and maintain proper functionality of everything.
