i was just givin our old "80's" something plow truck(chevy).
what i know about it:
350 engine
14 bolt floater rear end
manual trans 4spd(not sure what,420?or 465?)
don't know what t-case
and it has power steering that my 40 could use.
my question..........
would it be worth putting the motor and tran/t-case in the 60?
or would you just put the trans in the 60,and could you mount the stock toy t-case to the chevy trans.
or is it all a waste of time, and i should part it out?

or should i even take possesion of this thing and not waste my time.

and if this needs to be in chat..........please move it for me

Not worth the effort to change the engine over. If you got the plow, too, & it works, it's worth more than the truck. If it doesn't work, Western Truck (right name, I think) on South Broadway by 470 went through my Meyer for under $200.

Look at the front axle. If it is a D60 (1 ton) then swap EVERYTHING over.

Extra power, good axles and all you have to do is fab work to get everyhting to work..

What is the snow plow truck.

front axle is a 10 bolt? round cover and has a destroyed axle at the knuckle where the u-joint is.i'm sure i could find parts for it. corporate gm?
no plow/blade we just re-use it on the other truck.

I think the engine/trans swap would be worth your time if it is in good shape. But I am not a purist like many on this board. SBC parts are cheaper, more widely available. SBC offers more power with same fuel consumption in stock form. It has a much wider RPM band. Very helpful for mountian driving. Plus SM465 will offers like a 6.58 to 1 first gear. Stock LC is 3.5 in US.

The trans should be a SM465. AA has adapters available. You might have to change the output shaft on trans depending on spline count.

Draw backs. SM465 probably will not shift as smooth as stock LC. Friends will call your truck the Toylet. (1/2 Toyota, 1/2 Chevrelot).

I'm proud of my Toylets, you could be too.

thanx for the replys i believe i've found a place to tear it apart.
i think i'll just hang on to the powertrain and power steering set up.

i see a divorce in my future  not really.

10 bolt is basically a D44.
Not a bad axle but it's main cool thing is that it is exactly the same width (spring mounting plates) as a D60. So swapping stuff is easy ;)
