What type of transmission fluid does a 08 fj cruiser need?

I accidentally drained my transmission fluid instead of my oil. I just need to know what type works, does casterol transmission fluid work, or is there a specific brand. Also how much would I need to fill it back up. Thank you!

Auto trans or manual?

Auto needs the Toyota Type WS (a few others, i.e. Amsoil, make an equivalent). Manual can take gear lube.

No.

If you want a full-synthetic version, Amsoil has two choices that are WS compatible.

Hopefully you still have that old trany fluid you drained. If so, measure it in another container and then refill with that exact same amount of new fluid. The trannys are very sensitive to fluid levels.
