I've recently installed an accell hi-voltage coil, and 8mm wires. I'm pretty sure the engine runs better. I've heard that you can increase the spark plug gap with a high-voltage coil, but am not sure how big to go?

Any and all suggestions (regarding spark plug gap!) are welcome.

Sort of a hunt and peck theory. Go 20 over and see what happens, add or subtract 10 and see again. Many variables will determine the final best gap. Also, you cna advance the timing quite a bit with the accell. I am running .055 with my jacobs but .060 kills it.

Thanks David. Empirical approach I can work with. Two questions though if you don't mind...

1. What spark plug do you use?
2. When playing with advance and gap, which do you adj first?

Thanks!

I use the NGK from NAPA. Stay away from the platinum. POS in my mind. Basically the stock plug.I would jump your timing to just below the window and re gap the plugs. This process can take a while just go slow and make small cj=hanges.
