what size tires on Tundra without lift?

My friend has an 05 Tundra 4x4 and asked me what size tires she could fit on the stock alloy rims. I have no idea how much bigger she could go without a lift. Anyone have any experience with this?

My buddy has an 01 with 285 BFG ATs he rubs at full lock. I think with a bit of trimming he would be fine. It rubs the plastic inner fender.

I own an 05 dbl cab tundra which seems to have the bigger flares or whatever they screw onto the wheel openings. The access cab has different and it appears larger wheel openings?

Anyhow I removed the factory 265/70R/16 30.7 inch high tires approx and put on some E load rated, 10 ply truck tires. LT235/85R/16 Michelin LTS M/S
These are about an inch narrower than the factory rubber and a 32 inch high tire. These ones will rub on the inner liner while turned so you really can not upsize the tires much without a lift.

I am running 255/85R16 on stock toyota 7" wide rims (starfish style) on a 2003 tundra trd 4wd. The tires rub the frame in front at full lock, and when I turn right into a driveway. Left turn are rarely an issue. I can send pics if you needs to see the clearances.

35's on the back stock.....

when you lift the front with spacers or new coilovers you only increase the ride height. under compression and wheels turned you still have the same space for rubbing as stock..... so without fender trimming you will rub

the tundra will fit 35's with pinchweld trimming

on stock wheels 12.50 will rub on the upper control arm due to backspacing. a wheel spacer can be used.

however if you use a wheel spacer, a lot of tire places will not work on your truck...or just won't put them back on...

I would call these guys cuz they are in the biddness and are really knowledgable www.tirerack.com Their website will tell you just about any answer to size and fittment on a particular vehicle and if any further questions are needed they will welcome your call. I have asked them several questions and these guys do not pressure you at all great group!!
