I know there are a million threads on SOA, just curious as to what Leaf spings to use, and experiences on what leaf springs not to use. How about the Parabolic leafs? Thanks

From what I understand if you use your stock sagging springs, you should get between 5.5-6.5 inches of lift with an SOA (depending on how saggy they are). If you use lift springs you will get upwards of 7 or 8 inches. Hope this helps.

stock rides awfully nice.

Sometimes you do have to put some extra leaves in there tho. 60's are portly...

I'm running augmented stock leaves in my FJ40 and plan the same in my FJ60. I would not run lift springs unless you want to run very large tires and a very tall truck. I considered using the OME springs on the truck now, but don't want to end up quite so tall.

I've been building spring packs for my 60 now. The fronts are stock FJ62 packs with the longest load leaf doubled with a load leaf from another pack.

The rears are FJ62 packs with and extra long support leaf and an extra of the next size down. I took out the shortest leaf. I also installed new Rockford spring pins-you need to dress the holes in the leafs with a 7/16 bit.

There is a slight advantage to using FJ62 springs, and building from there.

Or, you could spend some coin on custom, high load, no lift, Alcans. If I wasn't trying to do a low budget build, I'd do that.

The kind that don't do this ;)

Looks like the shackle was too short. The eye fatigued and broke. That had to have been a bad day. What's the story. Were those OME springs? They do not look like OEM with the bolt style keeper.

hmmmmm.........I guess if the stock springs will get the job done I might go that route for now. I just don't want them to break like the photo above. I was afraid they were worn out to much, but I don't think they are. Thanks for the info. I was thinking if I got lift springs it may make it sit way to high.

i'm running stock springs front and rear.
the rears were ok,had a bit of arch to them, but i added the long add-a-leafs from man-a-fre in the pack.

i love them!! they twist up real nice!

the fronts are stock right now waitint to find time to add a leaf to them.

originally i had a stock spring pak with a shorty AAL ad ended up bending the springs.

always go with the long AALs

no sway bars at either end and the road manners are fine with me :D
but i like the feeling of the whole truck leaning to the outside of a turn :D

Where's the best place to get replacement leafs, or maybe a slight lift leaf springs to keep it from getting to high? Prefernce of brands, specific leafs?

OME on stock length greasable shackles. Happened on Friday night at River Shiver (first run of the weekend) on a light trail. The springs have been on for less than a year, and ARB will be getting a call. Thankfully Lowenbrau had some stock leafs in his trailer, and I was able to rebuild the spring pack and get back out by noon on Saturday.

I guess the AAL would be cheaper. Are you using stock steering components? I was thinking about going with the HISTEER from 4x4 labs.

i'm using All PROS hi-steer. got a deal three years ago.

AALs are cheap and will lift flat springs a good 2+ inches.

Thanks! good info. on the AALs, screw spending all that money on new leafs when you don't have to. I'll have to look at the ALL PROS hi-steer. I take it you like it? Thanks bro
