Yosemite is beautiful. I'd like to go there again. Was there any water on the falls?

Here's a recent pic of where I've been working for the last year off and on...

Thanks to Kief for the new tires, they worked a lot better int he snow than the wrong sized street tires I had on for a while... :D

Some scenery on the way to work:

Damn Jerod, how'd you end up with a job like that? And that is a sweet photo! I haven't recieved my T.T. yet, hope it didn't get sent to the wrong address since I renewed my TLCA! Going to LA huh? I used to live 45 minutes north of there and had gotten to where I would never go "downtown" anymore. Hope you make it out alive- have a good trip.

Well, I tagged another summit after the 45 Run this last weekend.

Half Dome:

Not as hard or long as Shasta, but a rougher trail to climb in the dark... It took 4.5 hours to the top from the valley floor, I got to the top just before sunrise, it was sweet!!! And I got lost in the dark.... Here:

Trail went left and I went straight... Had to get out the map and compass for a minute... :D

And the right fork took you down by the river didn't it? A few more miles and you'd be at the Merced Lake H.S.C. ! I've been on top of HD 3 times and the trip down is always way worse than the trip up! Quite the view though. The precipice creeps me out though. Did you hang over the edge? The best time to view the falls is early June. :) Next time you go make the climb outside the cables. ;)

are you swapping the elocker rear from the caird?

otherwise i think spacers are a better idea. i like the early brakes better.

also how does that rear shaft do on the road?

No, the Caird is keeping it's locker... It's way too much a part of it now... Plus I want to find a High pinion locker for the front and swap the low pinion to the back when that happens...

What do you like about the earlier brakes?

The rear shaft isn't actually that bad... (I got lucky I think...) I need to put the track bar back on the front axle till I go high steer though... the steering, at speed, is dodgy at best... :D

i was under the impression you put the elocker in the back.

i am also under the impression that hi and lo pinion elockers use a similar, but not identical mounting flange.

oh ya, the hi pinion isnt stronger than a reg v6 chunk, thats why i dumped the one i planned on using.

i am looking for a cheap or free 80- front axle sans the third

the early brake is a dual servo style, they grab better and actually wear the brake shoes way better. one of the cases where bigger isnt better.

No, the E-locker went in the front of Green Bastard.

If the hi pinion lockers are good enough for a pig of an 80 they should do for a 4runner... I would hope... I'll think about it while I wait for a free hi pinion E locker to fall out of the sky...

Dual servo? How so? I've been into early and late rear brakes, and the only difference I've noted was the linkages and springs being different...

Will a mini truck diff bolt into an 80 front housing? Would you go to a Tacoma rear housing to match?

I got the axle bolted in and built a round rear drive shaft today, and touched 60 with it with little to no vibrations! I'm stoked! :D

the brake thing is kinda hard to explain.

the easiest way is that the late brake has a solid mount that the bottom of the shoe rests on, and is only actuated by the wheel cylinder at the top of the setup. also the adjuster is directly under the wheel cylinder. so what happens is that the brake works like a clamshell for lack of better terms. only the upper half of the shoe grabs since the bottom never spreads.

the dual servo isnt anchored at the bottom of the brake, and the adjuster is at the bottom too. so it allows better wear of the shoe and also because of no lower anchor, the brakes in a manner actuate each other making better brake force.

my guess is that toyota substituted a larger assembly that works s***tier for the ease of assembly.

the early brake can be a bear if you arent paying attention when you take it apart
