Question: What is Your 65, 70, 75, or 80 mph, Steady State Mileage Average?

To mean, you get on the highway, reset your miles per gallon indicator, and set the cruise for XX mph for a good period of time for the purpose of a great mileage scenario.
Primarily, I don't want city mileage or traffic to muddy up your known average--just want a "best case scenario."
Please describe speed, flat/hilly conditions, A/C on/off, modifications, and your rough weight if you can recall.

I find these more useful than just "oh my average is" with varied conditions to wide to cover.

Thank you in advance for your time--

WWD

*And please reserve comments like "...it's a truck, who cares... buy a Prius... etc."*

Do a search on Mud in the 200 forum using the term “highway mpg”. You’ll get 23 pages of posts to read. In reading those posts, you’ll get some ideas for additional searches.

It's highly dependent on your setup. If you are stock it's going to be a lot better than a truck with bigger heavier tires, or one that has been built. Tires in particular (A/T vs street tires, 31 vs 33, rolling resistance, even factory OEM Bridgestones vs the same aftermarket replacement Bridgestone tires, all make a difference)

I got about 12-12.5 doing 79 going I-80 east from Chicago to Virginia back in Sept. If I was doing 65 I'd likely get 14-15.

I just got 17-18 last week driving over the course of about 1400 miles at about 75mph. Normally around town I get about 14mpg so I was happy, particularly since I was lucky to get 14 in my Tundra at any speed.

I have a stock 2013 LX 570 with 18" LC rims and 265/75 tires. Here in Colorado it's hard to find a flat stretch of highway so my mileage varies depending on how steep the elevation changes are. I have seen 19.5 on flat stretches and between 16-18 when driving through hills. In the mountains I don't even bother looking. I am usually right around 75-80. I don't see much difference with the AC on or off

Why be polite when you can just be a snarky jerk?

Because the question has been asked and answered many times. Search "gas mileage" or "MPG"

Stock suspension with LT285/70R17 E load KO2s and Rock Warrior wheels. No other mods, I see around 18 MPG at 65-70 MPH. When I filed up after this trip, 21.495 gallons went into the tank, still had 2-3 gallons left. Edit - driving through Utah at 80-85 MPH, drops to 15-16 MPG with same setup.

I get it, direct the guy, try to help him out. No reason to be an a******.

12.5mpg at 70mph with 34” Ridge Grapplers, Prinsu roof rack/light bar, loaded up with 4 people. Nice long downhill in neutral and it’s a solid 40-50mpg. Would be better but my tires and crap on roof slow me down.

I've been on this 200 forum 11 years and posted on here close to 1000x and you would be hard-pressed to find 5 that are snarky. As @linuxgod pointed out, during that time I have seen a ton of these fuel mileage threads.

I thought the tone of the original post was odd and demanding in terms of who was to do what and telling people how not to respond.

It looks like you have been on here about a year. I don't think you have the right to refer to another poster as a jerk.

Congrats on your seniority. If someone acts like a jerk I will call them out on it, I don't care how long you or others have been on the forum. I don't really care what you think I have a "right" to do.

It's doesn't take any more effort to be polite than it does to be a jerk. If the post so offends you "vets" then get a moderator to delete or, maybe POLITELY tell the OP it's been discussed many times and point him to the correct threads. Or better yet just ignore it.

On a relatively flat, straight-shot road trip from TX to TN last month, driving about 80mph, I get about 14.5mpg. When my wife drove, usually between 70 - 75, she gets about 16 - 16.5 mpg. I used cruise control maybe 1/3 of the time, and I don't think my wife used cruise control at all. I have LT285/65R18 (E) tires, which are super heavy and drag the mpg down quite a bit (at least from what I hear in this forum - I actually have only ever run this set of tires on the LC).

Everything other than tires were stock. LC loaded up with 2 adults, 3 kids, and a bunch of luggage.

Because i drive more long distance vacation than actual rock crawling these days, this is why i am heavily contemplating changing to a more highway/MPG friendly tire next time....
