Does anyone know what this is? It is a rubber mounted pad just underneath the area between the rear (middle) passenger and front passenger seats.
Pad on Cruiser.webp

I recall it was on certain years of 100's to reduce some vibreations or something.........not all years have it

It was on my 99 and is on my 98. It is actually a part that was created in the deepa region of Haiti by a group of medicors that were supposed to have captured he essence of a dying 80 series LC and then placed that essence in a large parts bin of these pieces. The two circles stand for the continuity YET discrepancy between the 80 and 100 series and the whole piece represents their unity in the Toyota brand. It did not work i.e. the new 100 series caused more riffs than unity so they scrapped the project and now you can see those parts in Haiti being used as marijuana plant starters.

Very interesting story actually.

I heard if you take it off, the truck will flip over.

I was wondering the exact same thing. My buddy and I came to a lame conclusion that it might be a counter weight? Uhhh... I don't know.

Or the 7th wonder of the world sorta thing....that's good Juke!!!

I've always thought of it as being a skid plate equalizer. It lowers that side to match the frame/stuff on the other side in that same section of the wheelbase. Take a peek and see if you agree?

Jack point ?

Thought of that but there is only one and is shock (rubber) mounted.

This is a darn good question. I have always wondered what that thing was. Any reference to a description in the FSM or parts manual? I, too, heard it was a vibration damper.

Nicely Done! :D

Pimp is right. Its used to dampen vibration in the chasis. Rover used these on their disco's for a while too.

Edit: Forgot to also mention that I took mine off when I took off the running boards. It has made zero difference in vibration.

Pimp & Greg: Thanks. I thought of the dampening feature however since the frame is box style and appears very stout/rigid I dismissed this notion. And the 'dampener' is so small...and only located on one side of the frame...bizarre.

why didnt anyone beleive me? :crybaby: :flipoff2:

like i said......its not on all years.

Too simple of an explanation Pimp ( :
