Hey Gang....I just welcomed myself back into the 80 club via a triple locked, well built 1996 LX450 with only 90k on the clock. She's not perfect but she's mine and I'm psyched to have a good old 80 series again.

Anyhow, I was digging around and found this unidentified electrical object behind my driver's side cargo panel. Anyone have any idea? It almost looks like it has a coax cable coming out of it, along with a several pin plug port. I'd like to remove it but maybe it's an IED? Nobody knows.

Wild guess...
The optional cell phone "box"

Yup. Old school cell phone box. It’s trash.
Ok, cool. I'll remove it, though that bracket could be the start of something cool. Thanks for the help, y'all.

Yes, the bracket is the most useful part at this point. The phone is from the long-gone analog days of cell service.

I would have killed for that bracket three weeks ago when installing a fuse block back there. Definitely hold onto that.

Removed it today and put it in the parts box for the reason you're describing. I'll likely fab a plate onto it, move it over to the passenger side and mount a bunch of stuff to it.

Before seeing the picture, I was going to suggest LoJack receiver.

At least that’s what I found in my rig in that area.

LoJack unit was a black box, about the size of a deck of cards, with a small antenna wire coming from it.

I'm so old I remember when this stuff was radical revolutionary and new.

The ham radio guys used to have phone autopatch on the 2-meter repeaters in the 70s so wasn't really new.

Best wishes with your rig.

My daughter still has that in her LS400. Cracks me up every time I see it.

Got. one in my '83 M-B 500 SEC.
But it only receives calls in German...

Was that bracket aftermarket, anyone know the original manufacturer?
