Hello all,

Does anyone know what this sensor is for on the dashboard of my 1991 80? It is plugged in underneath. In my right hand drive truck it’s on the passenger side of the dashboard above the glovebox. Is it some sort of light sensor for automatic headlights??

Cheers!

More recent LC models had Auto-dimming sensors but IDK if a RHD 91 model did??

What market did your RHD ?model 80 Series come from?

Can you clean it off then take a photo or two looking down onto it directly, with/without flash.

You could go to Partsouq dot com, type in the VIN of your 80 Series, then scroll through/to ? Electrical or Instruments or Switch and Relay?? and you might find out what it is (if it's OEM). A parts guru might know.

Do you have an Owners manual (or FSM) for that model?

Check the Resources link at top of the page for your model's Factory Service Manual (FSM)

Found it on Part Souq. It looks like a sunlight or heat sensor and is part of the heater system. I thought it might be for headlights but if that is optioned then it’s on the drivers side!

Could you share the part number, name?

Added for future reference: 88625-60080 (Thermistor, Cooler)

I think I read about it in the FSM. Do you also have an "Auto" button in the climate control panel? I believe it's used as part of hat. It detects if sunlight radiates additional heat into the vehicle and then that automatic system uses that in some way to keep things comfortable
