That mystical frame weight/dampener was put in place to eliminate the "exhaust boom at idle". Can anyone explain what exhaust boom is... Probably going to take the dampener off... just want to know what to expect (other than nothing).

ooooovoooooovoooooovooooovoooooommmmmmm sitting at a stop light (must try to pronounce it with your mouth closed).Ride in mine and you can find out quickly. It has nothing to do with the little frame thingy. I have had mine off for years and always had a booming boom to it.

They also added one to the muffler to the trucks that were diagnosed and treaded under warranty. Almost all of them come w/ the frame dampener from the factory. The TSB added another one to the exhaust system.

Get much boom in the GS do you? :)

LOL... No GS... YET.

The Solara is actually spending the night at a local dealer while I test drive a 450h. :D

OK. Since we've had our LX there has been a low, exhaust drone at idle in gear. I always thought this was the "exhaust boom" everyone talked about in the various threads.

Yesterday, while sitting at a red light in gear, I think I learned what it really is. Truck started making a noise of increasing intensity like subwoofer playing R&B. BOOOOM, BOOOM, BOOOM. Yikes!

Thoughts?
