Finally found the time to weld up a sub-frame for the AutoHome Columbus I picked up over the summer. I wanted modularity... so I built a sub-frame with welded studs so I could swap the RTT and the home made roof rack I built back 5 years ago or so at will. All I need is for 4 tall friends each time and the feet stay put and I swap out the tent for the rack. I built in some awning mounts too.

I dig it. Now to see if I actually like a RTT, this is my second one. I had one in 2008 before the craze and I took a hard pass.

I need a pair of new brake hardlines, but not for my 80. Each one is ~4" with just a couple of mild bends. Any suggestions for a shop that can make them? Better yet would anyone with the knowhow be willing to show me how to make them? Teach a man to fish ya know........
Would be more than happy to reciprocate with a spare set of hands whenever needed. Thanks!

Not to her to make, you head down to Napa and I’d bet they’ll make them for you right there. You’ll need a flaring tool, that’s about it. They make specialty benders but if your gentle you shouldn’t need one.

They’ll likely reuse the fittings if they’re in good shape. Any hydraulic hose shop (even some fastenals) will help you make them with their tools. At least they’d let you look over their shoulder.

Send me a PM.
I just made new lines for my truck. I have a bender, double flare tool and some tricks i can show you. Like REZARF said, it's not hard, just takes a bit of practice.

The last month and a half has been really busy at work and around the house. It's been weeks since I've even started the 40. So today I decided to cut the day short (even though the week was already long) and take the 40 for a drive. We ended up over at Logan and I gave some cardboard hooligans what they deserved. It was a beautiful day for a drive and a range trip. Probably not too many days like that left this year. Take advantage of them when you can.

Well friends as I continue to wait (impatiently) for my beloved 40 to return from rust repair I have bided (is that a word?) my time in other ways. I have read Who Needs a Road? BZN Library had to borrow it for me. But really it’s a must read for Cruiser fans if you haven’t already. I also passed my HAM Technician Exam, so I will be legal, I’ve piddled around w my old military trailer and kinda on the fence about selling it, and I was able to give another old project car I have some attention and start it for the first time in 22 years this past weekend. Hope to see y’all soon :) !!!!

I read the book years ago, it was still available from the publisher a few years ago.

Thanks Puppies, it's good to keep your eye on that, every now again they'll print a run. Unfortunately, publisher hasn't had any for a while, I had been watching, hoping to purchase directly, especially since used ones are priced as high as they are.

@finally what did you get running? I must know... (not that it is any of my business)!

Ha! Yeah I tried to upload/attach the start up video but it’s either not possible to do or I can’t figure it out :) . ‘82 Porsche 928 (no not a manual :-( ) I’ll probably get rid of it before too much longer also. I just never find time for it, it’ll make someone a great project (especially now that it’s a running project :) ) but w the 40 gone it’s finally gotten some attention, silver lining, but it’s a project for sure ;-)

The Miata is a more dependable vehicle anyway ;-). These things are dependable when you get em all sorted, but getting em sorted takes A LOT of tinkering ;-)

The 928 in GTS trim is my favorite Porsche. You have to love those headlights. The electrical bits...not so great. Does yours have the wild upholstery?

The Pasha interior! No it does not. It is head to toe, wall to wall leather lol.
