What has everyone been paying for 100 series lately?

I found a clean southwestern 2000 100 series with 114k miles. No rear locker. Original owner no accidents, clean Carfax few light scuffs on bumpers clear coat still reflects. Good looking truck. They are asking 13,500 for it. Is this to high?

Let me preface with I'm overseas for work and I have a TON of time on my hands.

I've been doing EXTENSIVE nationwide research for the past couple of months using FB marketplace, Autotrader, Edmunds and to a lesser extent Craigslist. My search criteria:
  • Less than 250k miles
  • Considered anything from 98-07, but primarily looking for 03-05 for best bang for my buck
  • Non-rust belt state; clean undercarriage
  • Good maintencance records/current PM
  • Willing to fly and drive nationwide
Here are my general price ranges that would be consistent with the above criteria. Keep in mine there are a lot of asking prices that just seem to be "reaching for the stars", but they are just that. Don't confuse asking prices with what vehicles are selling for.

98-99 LCs with rear lockers or any LC/LX from 98-02; plenty under 10K can be had for less than 8K less frequently.
03-05 LCs and LXs are not hard to find under 15,000; yes LCs for a given year/condition will typically be more and harder to find
06-07 A lot available under 20K, have to search harder for the under 15K ones, but they are out there.

I ended-up with a one owner 04 LX from Florida; 235K with clean undercarriage and good maintenace history, but it needed full brakes all around (F/R rotors/pads and R calipers) and recommended replacement of one CV axle soon.

After having shop do new brakes all-around, new OEM CV axle and fresh oil I was just under 10K.

I was close to closing on two other LXs. A super clean 2 owner 07 with 240Kfrom South Carolina (agreed on 13.5K) and another 2-owner 2004 in Arkansas, also very clean for 9K (due for TB/WP) with 250K.

Good luck with your search! **after thought: This may not be the appropriate place for this thread. We should keep the classifieds for buying and selling and not general discussion threads.**

Seems like the low mile (under 150k) in very nice, no rust condition are mid teens to 20k. The high mileage (200k plus) clean models are low teens, and the uber-rare sub 100k miles rigs are $25 to $30 range.

For comparison my Lexus dealer offered me $30k even for my 58k mile PERFECT white 2013 LX570 with full maint and new tires!!!! Guess I have hit the bottom of the Depreciation curve. NO WAY I am "giving" the dealership my perfect LX and watch them retail it for $40+

I’ve Just realized how lucky I was in 2018 to buy a excellent condition 05. Exceptional maintenance records and zero! Rust anywhere. Was a grocery getter. I have Recently pondered selling as my miles are getting up there. Yet comparing to 4runner’s & Tundras I am now acknowledging that my 100 designed in mid 90s is above those modern vehicles in many ways. So unless I can obtain a 200 (not going to likely happen) within A normal reasonable Price.... I’m keeping my 100. Prices have skyrocketed and People are asking rediculous prices. For that matter I’ve seen some extremely similar prices on 80 series.
The Good 100s sell fast....
and are very pricey. I am just now realizing that the Sanora Gold paint I have, must actually have Real Gold in it 😎

I paid $16,500 for my 2006 LX with 136xxx miles back in January. I expect that I could sell it today for at least what I paid for it. The market has gone up for sure.

where did you end up finding that? that’s basically everything I’ve been looking for in a 100 series since January- 06+, around 150k miles, and priced around mid to upper teens.

What is the mileage at the time of purchase?

I got lucky, honestly. I found it at a small dealer in South Carolina - the kind people warn you about. Like you, I had been searching diligently for months. It popped up on CarGurus, and I immediately reached out for more info. First, it was a trade in. It was serviced every 5k miles at a Lexus dealership since it was originally sold, and I found those records on the Lexus site. Previous two owners took care of every little thing that came up. It had new CV's, new brake pads and rotors, new Michelin tires, new fuel pump, etc. I haven't had to do anything to it since buying, except to base line the AHC, new heater T's, change the oil and rotate tires. I also replaced the rear springs, although that was preventative.

My guess is the dealer stole it on the trade in, and had it priced to move. Like I said, I think I got lucky.

I have an 02 with 69k miles in very nice condition. I had to spend a bit of time coating, painting the frame weld points underneath when I got it as it came from up north but the body is very good and it looks and drives new. I figure the crusty under bits hurt it a bit on resale but not on use. It looks new and drives new. I would not take $20k for it.

I just bought my son a 2005 with 72k miles. It is nearly perfect and looks new underneath. I paid up for it but I think it is worth nearly $30k. Impossible to find in this condition from a rust-free state.

I have a 1991 that spent its life in the Bakersfield desert. The paint is a cool patina but the rest is nearly perfect. I think a 125k mile 91 in all original rust free condition that is sorted would bring good money in this market. One just like it brought $19k on BAT this summer.

They are out there so keep looking. When you find one available DO NOT worry about paying up for it. There is someone out there always looking and an extra $2k or $4k will NOT matter to them.

Looking for some community advice here... Currently evaluating buying a clean 2006 LX 470 with ~100k miles on it, southern car with no rust and will probably end up settling at $22.5k for the vehicle. All scheduled maintenance has been performed up to 80k miles but probably needs the timing belt and water pump done. Thoughts on the price?

Seems consistent with the market right now. If it were my money I’d buy a LX570 with 200K miles with that budget.

If you really value the low miles and are set on the 470 then jump on it.

That price is right for a clean one. Probably needs PDR, new front seat bottom, timing belt at that age and mile point but for less than $25k you have a fantastic vehicle to drive and enjoy for years to come. I think even with 150k miles in rust free nice condition you are looking at high teens to low 20's now.

If you posted the link to the car here, it’d probably be gone before 14:30.

Yes, I always wonder if they get snatched up by others who watch for these.

I'm just finishing up a few more details on my MY2000 100. Has the 1hd-fte with 130,000kms, LHD 5 speed, AHC, rear locker, heated leather. I'm going to sell it but have absolutely nothing to compare it to, other than the same trucks over in Germany: https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/...searchId=27a3564a-3797-00be-aa18-657008aaee6b
I'd be curious what you guys think. I'm in Canada and as I understand it's not eligible for US import yet.

^ no ideas on price heh?
Well I'll post it in the 100 series for sale section when it's ready to go. Fixing up a few minor items first for the next owner. I'm going to price it a good chunk of change lower than it would cost to buy/import one from Germany. And in the same ballpark as similar diesel RHD, autos with twice the miles :)

Thanks for the input. Made the deal today and brought home my first 100 series.
