what diffrent types of grease have people used for the OME shackles and bushings, what is your experience with these greases? Just wondering because Kurt from CO said to use a moly based grease but I already have a tube of mobil synthetic chassis grease just sitting around.

I would say thats fine, I used lucas synthetic on mine

When I consult with an expert in a given field, I usually do what they say to do. So your question should be for Kurt, and if he says your tube of grease is bueno, then use it. Otherwise, I would do what he says and use moly based grease.

Moly based grease - I use the black sta-lube.

Well I guess I am heading to auto zone. Thanks for your insight guys.

Last I checked Vatozone wasn't carrying sta-lube, but the coastal brand balck Moly is fine.

Well I was at Pep Boys last weekend and and all the Moly Grease was some generic brand so it is either Advanced or "Vatozone".

Yeah, for springs and shackles it's more important to just keep them greased, than the brand of grease...

I'm not impressed with Sta-Lube. I think that most use it because it is/was the brand that most of the chain stores carry and we got used to it rather than it being good stuff. These days I use greases from brand names like Chevron, Mobile, Valvoline, or Redline and no longer consider Sta-Lube to be a good brand name.

Polyurethanes are reportedly attacked by petrochemicals, like dino based oils and greases. The result of prolonged contact looks like severe oxidation of the bushing material.
MAF told me that they've never had an issue with using dino based greases on their urethane bushings. A good friend of mine owns a 4x4 repair shop and all that he will use on urethane bushings is a silicone grease, like that sold by Energy Suspension.
When I installed the MAF sourced spring bushings I went with their grease recommendation figuring that any problems would be on them.

Spoke with Kurt on friday and he said that the Synthetic Chassis grease would be just fine.
