jumped into my 40 yesterday about 430pm after about not driving for a week.

backed up the drive way and no brakes.

pulled out the parking brake and saw fluid on the inside of the L rear tire.

pulled both wheel cylinders, cleaned, honed, cleaned again, reassembled. Bled the entire system.

after about an hour of city/country driving still no leaks.

Hope she's good to go. Will be checking my brake fluid levels every time i get out of the rig for the next few days.

New plugs and wires on the 80, wires were definitely from 1993. Plugs might have been as well??
Also repacked drivers front bearings as we had what I thought was a loose/worn bearing, I was right the outer bearing was loose. Top to bottom wheel movement. Also was over 15-20 lbs on the fish scale. Got it back down to 7lbs. Maybe my mpg will get up to 15 now. :bounce:

Working on a build thread with pics for my new project will post up some real details soon as I know JP is tired of my hints.

It's time

Ordered some Polarg headlight bulbs for the FJC. Some people claim that they are just as bright as HID conversions...but I'm not sure I believe that yet.

Now if I could just get the HID conversion in my '89 pickup to work right:bang:

I think I am going wheeling in a thunderstorm.

New plugs in the 60 and multiple cans of seafoam in the past two tanks of gas. I'm not blowing smoke on start up now and everyone says it doesn't smell gas anymore. The old plugs look to have been in there for quite a few years. The PO just did not work on this truck. The gap on the old plugs had been burn to .055 instead of the recommend .032. truck feels like it has a good bit more power now.

Tomorrow it gets an oil change and a shot of carb cleaner.

Ok so I have been always curious about the sea foam...you mention you put it in the tank of gas, did you dump any down the carb, what kind of results have you experienced? How many cans did you go thru? Thanks

I ran a can thru the dent once. Did see a difference but that was before going to the trollhole carb as well. Ran a little smoother i thought...

Tire question...what is the load rating for an FJ60, I am lookin at a 235/75/r15 tire, does it have to be a LT tire or not? It's strictly for highway use and the difference between an LT and non LT is about 50 bucks a tire so I'd like to save the cash if I don't need and LT. Thanks for the help

I'm sure someone who is more informed than me would give a better (aka: more thoughtful) response...

I really don't think it matters. Save the cash.

Long story short, the non LT should work, provided you don't load the family up and head out for big trip loaded for bear. These trucks are pretty heavy, and take up a large percentage of that load carrying capacity of the tire.

I would suggest the LT's because they will give you more safety factor for that unforeseen family trip, and will have better handling, roadholding ability under the load of a stock the FJ60.

Now, if the non-LT's are P235/75R15XL, then the load carrying capacity is the similar, but they will still feel more floaty/wishy-washy in handling than the LT tire.

I ran it all through the gas tank. I had about a 1/4 tank and ran 2 cans through and then filled up and stopped at O'Riley's later that day to get oil change stuff and they had it on sale so I picked up 3 more cans and am running those in a full tank of new gas.

So far it looks like I'm getting much better mpgs. I've run less than half this tank of gas and have already done 150 miles. In my 4Runner I put 5 cans in one tank (thats what the 4Runner guru's said to run) and my mpg went up 3.4, which is about an extra 50 miles to a tank. So I'm a firm believer. But if you're going to run a bunch of it like that be prepared for a puff of smoke on the first start after having that much SeaFoam in it.

Thanks Carp, I am currently looking at tire rack and see a lot of the tires with the load range marked XL, but I'm not seeing the LT marking, but they have a service description number ranging with 108S and 108R and 105S and 105T, what does that stand for??

Hey 98 do you run 5 cans everytime or are you just running them thru once to clean everything out? Have you ever dumped a can down the carb, I have heard of some doing that also.

Thanks, Chuck

Just once to try and clean it out.

I have not run one through the carb yet but may give it a try if after I try carb cleaner and am not satisfied with that.

I have read a few threads about this stuff. Anyone ever ran it threw an 80???Somewhere I saw u were supposed to let it be pulled in a vacuum hose. I will try anything to help my stall issue. And not pay 1k to RHT for egr, vsv, and modulator valve.

I've never done through the vacuum system but the 4Runner is new enough to not need it and the 60 will have to wait to get it once I actually have vacuum hoses that aren't full of holes and cracks.

I have heard great stuff about running it there though.
