What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Since I'm feeling vigorous today, apparently, and because my batteries are both dead, I broke out my new Schumacher battery charger, too.

It blew up on the first try.
Looks like this POS wiped out my $340 house battery. It will no longer hold a charge, even on my old charger.

It was Valentine's Day weekend, so I played with my rig all weekend.

Aired out the canopy and identified some pinholes I need to address before they tear. I also need to get a new "bag" for the canopy. This came out of Venezuela so I've no hope of a direct replacement - any ideas?

Went and hung out at one of the local mechanic shops, turned into a mini meet......

This pic makes me realize that I need 37s 😒

Nice Rig !
37s are the sweet spot for a 80 😃

you lose cruise control with aftermarket steering wheel adapters.
You wrote cruiser control. I was confirming what you meant.

SNOW DAY!

Will start to tear this apart this weekend after getting it pulled today. Not sure how far I'm going with it yet. Harness and rubber hoses were all in great condition and may have been replaced at some point, but it seemingly has every oil leak you can possibly imagine and the compression test indicates possible piston ring wear.

222/223 installed, got about 2.5 inches of lift. All new OEM control arms in the rear. Very comfortable and planted with the shocks in their recommended settings.

Next... come up 12.5 behind the factory bumper, castor measurement, delta arms and panhard correction, 35s, +/- new wheels, and gears, in that order.

Also, need to flex it out to determine if there will be contact on the front reservoir with 315s and OEM wheels. Or if the tire will hit the top of the wheel well first? Worst case scenario I'll be "forced" to buy new wheels with -10 to -25 ish offset. Any one running OEM wheels on 315s and external reservoir shocks with any input?

I'd like to see more photos of your setup. I've been considering going from the 3" Flexis I have down to the 222/223 setup. Since they support the same weight, it would just "in theory" help me lose us to 2" of lift.

The problem is you are getting 2.5" of lift on a 1.75" lift, and I'm getting ~4" of lift on a 3" lift. So I'd rather not waste the money if I'm going to only lose 1" MAYBE. Interested to see where it lands after you add the winch and do some driving.

I don't think you will have an issue with the tires, but it will be interesting to see. I had 35x12.5r17s on factory 4runner wheels and didn't have rubbing issues in the front. Rear was a different story until I got the panhard correction.

I would think if anything going with -25 would make your situation worse for scrub radius but there are a few guys who do it. Part of the problem is the 315s.

I now run 275/80/17s on 17x8.5 -10. And I wish I had 0 because it would fit in the flareless fenders better. But with flares I bet -10 would be mint.

You should get one Scott. Won’t regret it. I value innovative and aesthetically pleasing designs. Won a welcome sign design competition back in architecture school, city of Pullman built it. The concept was that each of welcome sign plate would be folded and welded, combining all languages. In addition, mimicking the contour of the rolling hills in the Palouse, WSU. Well they didn’t build it like how I imagined because the structural engineer professor took over. Love Delta design visions and craftsmanship. The origami folds in the delta’s reminded me of my school design. One of the reasons why I purchased it.

The bumper reminds me of the OG ARB but with a modern twist.
