What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

We are talking about an 80 series here...none of that will be on the OBDII port. 😉

However, the DLC1 port will show some codes and the SRS warning light will be on.

I work on too many other brands to remember what it puts out on the port. I yanked the airbags and little light bulb out of my wheeling taco years ago, computer can't report bag codes at all if you yank it too.

Morning from Texas, I'm having my 3FE engine rebuilt in a month or so, was thinking of having the transmissions and transfer case rebuilt at the same time, who did you get your replacement gear from?
Where are you getting the 3FE rebuilt? I’m in Houston area and always interested to know if anyone here that can do it well.

You guys may be purest to the 80s which is great. However, have you ever thought about ls swapping? I encourage this behavior. :). Parts are everywhere, I've worked on VW, mercedes, subaru, honda engines.. and I find the ls motor is simple to work on and it's reliable (our truck had 400k miles). And listening to the 400 plus hp ls, v8 sound off the 2.5" exhaust sparks me joy every time. Just a thought.

In my case. Engine had 450k miles with a bad head gasket. My old man loves working on machine and I decided to ls swap it also because I wanted a father and son bonding time that money can’t buy. Overall we enjoyed working on it and having beers after. Had a turbo charged rx7 and a turbocharged Sti. Turbo destroyed the engines. Just don’t want to deal with turbo..

Cause you had a Subaru and Mazda Rotary...not A Yota.
1FZ-FE bottom end is good up to 500miles and can be rebuild 3x. Top end HG once every 200miles.😎 then slap a turbo w/A750!! Still cheaper than LS
HG 4k and do ur own labor.....(Just giving u a hard time )

The LS make the FJ80 such a better rig IMO!

Finished the Transfer case rebuild with the 3.15:1 low range gears and 10% under drive gears. About as difficult as I thought it would be but took me longer than it should have because I kept second guessing myself and went back to the videos to make sure I was right.

Nice work cleaning that case! I powerwashed mine but didn't have the patience to really clean it up. Just finished this job on mine a week ago and really happy with it.

Tried to unsalt both LC’s as best I could after 2+ weeks of driving on straight salted roads. Used a garden sprayer and foam cannon with this stuff, and then regular washes. Will do again in a couple of weeks. I’ll have both treated with regular woolwax before next winter.

Also hooked up an incredibly simple shotgun sling that is going to be super convenient during turkey season this spring.

Thanks. This was my first time using the FIPG and I clearly used too much, but otherwise very happy with how it turned out.
