Still working on the rear brakes. Got everything to rebuild the e-brake and was to the point of putting the caliper on and discovered it was seized. Explains why it felt like it was dragging a bit. Looks nice though right now. Put a fresh coat of paint on the dust shield and hub.

Nice. Looks good, done right!

Drove it to see some family. I had a few extra hours to kill so I spent the time driving to the top of another mountain that was on my list of my mountains to explore. Nothing major on the short detour but I did find a really old carving in an Aspen tree. I am thinking 1931....

Got the windows tinted. I did need to apply some additional dark tint to the rears in order to get everything matched up. I think they did a great job matching that funky bronze reflective tint from the factory though. Also tinted the front windshield with ceramic 80% to keep the UV rays from blasting the dashboard.

Yup! Good on them. This is what my tint shop did as well to match up everything up with a mix match of reflective and tint etc. FWIW we did all our windows in home as well in a ceramic uv film. Really does help.

Did several winching exercises.... the food warming basket works better than I had hoped. It heats soup to the perfect temp.

Yep! We did the same with our home windows...really does make a difference. Same company that did the 80 did the home windows.

I feel so very lucky to have "Georgia" in my garage....she's my "forever truck"!

Put my new bull bar and winch on last weekend with a little help from @Evanmj. Waiting on my Labs rear bumper and Bowfin rack to get here now.:bounce:

I think I still have a set of those billsteins for 0-2 inch lift that I removed from my 80. Only a year old. If you need them I will send them your way if you pay the shipping.
That's mighty kind of you unfortunately I have a 4" lift.

Not this weekend, but I did just finish it. A couple of weeks ago I went out and made another video.

Ok this isn’t specifically 80 related but it IS in an 80 and just something kinda cool I enjoyed coming up with.

I have a customer’s 80 in my shop that has an LS3 swap with a 6L80E out of a Camaro. The problem with the Camaro transmission specifically is that…there is NO freaking dipstick. The user/shop has to lift the car, feel around for the port at the corner of the trans pan and then fill from upside down. You then just wait until it overflows. Lame.

So the thought was, since this is in an 80 Series with plenty of room, lets get a dipstick in there. So a standard duty Lokar dipstick and tube was selected and…well, just kinda placed there. It was lame. Out came some CAD (Cardboard Aided Drafting) and a mount was made out of aluminum. From there it was mounted using the standard bracket mounts in the ignition coil bracket on the rear of the passenger bank. Super simple.

Its such a pointless endeavor but had a lot of fun getting all the pieces together and seeing it come to fruition. Again, its not earth shattering but it was a real fun thing to work on and who knows=, maybe its something others that have done engine swaps could find interesting. Hmm...
