Dash install was more a pain than I thought. Majority of my time was sunk in cleaning up some of the wiring I ran and such. This is the sport dash for a tan interior in my doo doo brown interior. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either.

Made a trip up to the AAOA trails up in Eastern PA last weekend and had a great time on the 6 hour tour with Offroad Consulting guys. No doubt the fresh 6 inches of snow made the green trails a bit more challenging then they might usually be. Was a blast though and definitely heading back up there soon!

I picked up my completed 470 from Kaizen Offroad today. Sean did a fine job on it… and… met his complete date.
Way to go Sean!
His work is very clean and lays some nice beads.
I am/will keep my rig very simple - no excess, for less overall weight and minimal systems.
A complete Total Chaos suspension with King shocks keep it trick.
I hope to do a build thread on it as there a few nice simple tricks on it.

Sean is a knowledgeable and stand up dude, for sure. His shop is my go to for anything suspension related.

You traveled far to get to his shop!! Are there not any shops in your area that install suspension? Or are you not PNW anymore?

Froader,
Yes I have a 4x4 install shop in my area in Wa.
Although they do good work and weld in BDS & such systems, I wanted someone experienced with Total Chaos suspension.
Pat at TC recommended only Kaizen.
And yes quite a drive but I am a semi regular in socal.
Well worth the effort to go to Sean - class act!
His work is impeccable and he was happy I wasn’t trying to squeeze on 35’s lol.

Installed the Nash Fab curved ladder. If anyone is curious if it fits with the True North Rear bumper...the answer is baaarely. Had to modify it a little to get it to fit but might need to cut a bit more since I'm getting some rattles on bumps.

Nice looking set up!

Which cell-signal booster are you running?
Thanks! Its the weBoost Drive Reach OTR purchased on Amazon. I originally had the SolidRF signal booster since it was over a $100 cheaper but the freaking antenna kept getting unglued from the mount. I got it replaced but the 2nd one had the same thing happen to it at highway speeds...smh.

Installed new OEM LCA’s with rebuilt axles and still getting a damn clunk.
New coils (eibach 2.0’s), SPC UCA’s, new OEM LCA’s, rebuilt OEM axles, sway bar delete so no no end-link issues, and tie-rods still look good. no luck.

Drive shaft was replaced at the dealer about 30k miles ago with the previous owner, so I doubt it’s that. plus I only feel it on the front passenger side.

This weekend I’ll triple check the strut and top hat and PS rack since others have said that’s gotten loose and create some kind of clunk. I was really hoping the LCA’s and/or axles would’ve been done the trick since they were pretty worn.
No bueno.

What sort of clunk? Like clunk at stop, in reverse, or while at speed?

I’d probably like you said recheck torque on everything.

The LCAs will notoriously clunk at low speed if overtorque/undertorqued, especially with OEM style rubber bushings or if not torqued at ride height.

At speeds anywhere from 15-40 I’d guess.

Imagine lose strut bolts or even main shock nut for example, leaving threads showing and having that gap - if the suspension drops say at a bump or dip, you would hear some sort of clunk.

Example, (happens at a local street with bumps) say going over a bigger but lengthy bump at about 15mph, the beginning of the bump is fine because compression is there, but as suspension/wheels drop at the end of the bump, the clunk comes into place and I hear/feel it.

That’s why I want to triple check the strut hat bolts but I highly doubt that’s it. Maybe the shock nut since the shock was already assembled…I think a loose rack would also this. If it’s loose enough.

Everything has be torqued to spec. Wheels, LCA, tie rods, UCA and it’s caster/camber 32mm nut/bolt, and strut hat minus the inner bolt( closest to engine) since I didn’t have access with my torque wrench, but it was tightened pretty well with a longer ratchet.

Today I bolted in my molle gear wall by Relation Race Wheels. Nice bit of accessory. I have various molle bags & other stuff for the wall. Plug kit, minor kitchen stuff etc... Maybe a camp ax & knife too.
One flaw is the 115 volt port is covered, but I will dremel an opening for usage.
The molle gear walls are a nice way to keep cluttery stuff more organized.
I have a black out covering on the qtr windows to hide my gear wall - good to keep stealthy.

Double checked everything including LCA’s. I loosened them up again and re-torqued to 100. Everything here looks normal and torqued. went for test drive and still there. driving me nuts.

However, I spoke to the shop that did my alignment and said they never touched the UCA adjustment because alignment went well without touching it, even though I gave them SPC’s sheet to reference.

I don’t understand how/if this would cause some sort of clunk, but would this be something that’s being thrown off?
I don’t seen anywhere where I’d be rubbing or hitting. I’m running 17x7.5 FJC wheels and 285/70/17 K02’s.

I’m gonna get a proper alignment by a off road shop who deals with these and see how that goes.

How you liking the True North bumper? I'm in the market and this one caught my attention.
I like it so far. I think its a good option for someone who is not looking for a full plate bumper for a tire carrier. DIY kit was really straightforward as well and I thought it was actually easier than Coastal's front bumper.

Got a standalone P0333 code (knock sensor 2 circuit high input, bank 2) this week and the truck was going into limp mode (dumping fuel into the system and not shifting into 5th gear) until it was cleared. The code kept reappearing almost instantly after being cleared though, so highway driving was not ideal. There were no other codes, engine was running normally, and there was no actual engine knock.

Ordered two new knock sensors and an intake manifold gasket set. Once the intake was off, I found the ruins of an old rodent nest in the cylinder valley under the sais pump. All wires look good and not chewed up thankfully. I decided to clean the intake and injectors while it was all apart, swapped the sensors, and everything went back together eventually with no major issues. I am not looking forward to doing this again if the starter ever goes out. Not a particularly hard job, just tedious.

Good to hear, I'm close to ordering one. Kinda holding off to see what the new JW Offroad swingout will be priced at.
