I’ve never had a tire blowout on me. These tires are in like new / good condition. What would cause a blowout like this? There was nothing that punctured the tire. I was going down the street flat highway on a dry day. Should I replace all of my tires? I definitely don’t trust them anymore. I could not find any punctures in the tire either.

Fill up the tire with air, spray with soapy water and see where the puncture is. It will have to be replaced since you drive on it while it deflated. Did you buy road hazard insurance or is it included? You may get a very inexpensive replacement.

The tire shop is your friend here. It didn’t blow out if there’s not a visible damage. It likely happened slowly when the puncture happened and then accelerated if or when the “nail” came out.

You're not going to know for sure without an air bubble test. All we can see is that it's flat.
Are you saying that it went flat instantly as you were driving?
Could be a failed valve...if it happened while you weren't in the truck it could be
some punk letting all the air out.

Take it to the tire shop and see if they can find out what's wrong.
No need to catastrophize yet.

worth checking the valve stem, too. I had a tire replaced once upon a time and the shop didn't replace the valve stem for some reason, and it ended up tearing near the base of the stem. Lost all air without any damage to the tire.

edit: I see trapper50cal beat me to it.

Thank you guys for your responses. The tires were bought on a used set of rims a while ago. I haven’t checked the valve stem, but that could be the culprit. The tire shop that did the work was sloppy. Beyond that I’m gonna just replace all four of the tires. I was driving down the road when the blowout happened and it was an instant blowout. It was not gradual.

is the entire sidewall all rippled?
there should be a date code near the rim on 1 side of the tire, it will be 4 #'s in an oval
first 2 #'s are the week of the year, second 2 #'s are the year it was produced

just to see how old the tires actually are

I’m just going to replace all of the tires at this point they’re not under warranty anyway, and all of the valve stems are going to be replaced. I was lucky this didn’t lead to an accident.

I think this was a once in a decade opportunity to get brand new BFGoodrich takeoffs on 18 inch wheels, which appeared to have zero corrosion, probably off of a vehicle that was Garage kept its whole life 275/70R18.
Not gonna brag about the price, but I all but stole them😄
I donated the other three good Nexens to a hard-working tire shop in exchange for their work to take them off the rims.

Your first problem was poor quality tires - stay away from Nexen crap, ain't worth risking your life for a few bucks and congrats on your new tires!

Geez, talk about hitting the jackpot.
I did good. not free, but very very good. I was also given a spare wheel with a like new Bridgestone tire on it.

absolutely right. not worth my suffering or anyone else's. thank you for the congrats I appreciate that!

That's the jackpot for sure. If my current BFGs ever wear out finding a set of 18s is going to be on the docket for the next set. Congrats.
