Cruiser ruining like $hit right now awful idle missing and back fires thru intake I know it's way lean but why

background info would help. Did it just start happening after running great? Did you just run it thru the car wash with the hood up, or have you been out puddle jumping in all the rain?

Started with crank no start issue one morning. Replaced fusible links, starter contacts. 2 days before no start it would miss bad when applying throttle, then no start. Had been running fine for 400,000 miles so far until 1st week of December. Haven't messed with timing in years. Sounds to me like fuel pump going out, but was wanting to know how much electrical components control the pump as it is entirely possible that it is not the fuel pump. Hate to throw money at it like a stripper as I ain't got it to throw right now.

No puddles but has dumped 200 percent more rain in December here in Georgia than in other years

Started a thread crank no start i know i know that has most of the info on the problem. But not many of the hive had chimed in on it

Ran fine inkpot prior to the 2 days before when applying throttle it would miss but Smooth out and drive fine until one morning got in it to drive to work and out would not start just crank over. It wanted to hit but just couldn't. Burnt the contacts on the solenoid out. It was time to replace those any way. Fusible links had holes in the insulation, but that wasn't the problem either lol Ih8 electrical issues as it is time consuming and expensive to figure out. Any questions about this issue I will try to answer as best I can

Had the battery out for a week. Curious thing my cel light no longer comes on. Normally that would be a short or bad ecm, but it will now crank and run just misfire and back fires thru exhaust and intake to the point it dies and will not crank back until something cools off. Cold start it runs fine will take pedal and rev but as soon as cold start starts to let the engine go down to normal idle it starts the misfire and back fire crap. Qball I had a elm 327 to check codes and it is fried as well. Maybe had something to do with my cel light not working and my poor running truck.

I used the elm 327 prior to the no crank problem to monitor engine temps. You know always in the back of my mind head gasket failure might be dumping water in the cylinders causing plugs to foul. Engine temps were fine. After that engine got worse to where it would not crank. No cel and no elm327 working. And the head gasket is fine

Reading thru some threads on no crank and found where a member had a headlight fuse melted in searching for his no cel problem. My truck found fuse for left h/light was melted. If that has anything to do with it?

Maybe melted harness? I have seen it do crazy things. Check near the egr.
Slow did the heat wrap when I had the head off years ago lol ocd while your in there, it could be when I do have it running I wiggle the harness nothing changes. But your right it is a spot to check as Mr T feel asleep when engineering the harness there.

May be in to something here, my dad the sage of wisdom had a suggestion. Crank it in the dark and look for arcing. well did that and found the coil wire almost into. Picture blurry but that is part of the problem for sure. But I don't think it's all of the problem. Damn wire set is pricey, looking for a buyer for a left testie to get the wire set. The ones on it aren't oem.
