I am going over the bottom of my fj62, a little bit here,,, & little bit there, mostly taking off frame surface rust & painting with Eastwood rust encapsulator, I tinker, but am no mechanic,,
Can any one tell me what this apparatus is next to the park brake cable at rear axel? Is it part of 4 wd differential control?

Load sensing proportioning valve. It modulates brake pressure to rear drums so they don't lock up prematurely.

Don't spray any rust encapsulator on that. Might make it a bit difficult should it need servicing.
