What all handguns will fit in the Wit's End console box?

Well, if folks already have an answer then why 'reinvent the wheel'. Apparently very few are going to chime in and help answer my original question of what guns fit the box. Not what 'should fit' or 'might fit' or 'ought to fit' but ones that actually DO fit. Sure I can figure it out myself, but why would I if I can ask folks that have already done it? Ain't that what this forum is for?

"Only if the tape measure is all plastic or it won't it pass the metal detector. 3D printed or self made(80%) measuring tapes are strictly prohibited!"

Yeah, and I think you need special permits for tape measures under 16" in length...:rimshot:

Didn't Joey only make a small run of the shorter lock boxes? You got to first find 80 owners who bought one of the few, who also put a gun in it and who also wants to publicly say they have a gun in their 80. You might have a pretty small sample size there.

Fwiw, I missed out on the shorter boxes so if anyone wants to sell theirs lmk. :bounce:

QFT.

If I hadn't "lost everything in a tragic boating accident", then maybe I could add specifics - but even before the "big boat accident" I had a personal policy of not posting personal pics of that nature on the internet. There's no upside.

I'm not even keen on stating exact models of my "drowned items".
If I do it's always just hypothetical, or something I'm considering purchasing.

+1 for picking up any Wit's End mini-lockbox anybody mis-sized.

So I can lock up my "cel phone".

@artech - I bet you get a better reply if you start a new thread here in the 80 section & ask people to PM you what their personal fit/no fit experience is.

That would be the format I'd be more apt to give a response to - but that's coming from a guy who lives in a state where our house & prob governer are willing to ban even + capacity pistol mags real soon. Even the basic G26 ~12rd ones - anything over what it came boxed with.

GL.

Or even the hunting/fishing sub form here.

Ewe, come on now!

There was a YouTube video of Travis Haley, a former recon marine, and blackwater bubba, who was shooting a full length ar in 300 black and was doing 700 yds with a red dot and was lobbing them in. Once he found the spot on the hill to aim and after his spotter guided him in he hit it. This was after magazines were shot to hit it. It's not a long range round by any means. Your optic will run out of adjustment causing problems with parallax, the bullet will start to wobble as the bc changes. Not saying it CAN'T be done, you can create a beaten zone and eventually hit it. It's just not a long range round. What optics are you using?
Nightforce atacr 7-35x mil-r with a 40 moa base/ring combo haha

Not to mention, subsonic 300bo that will cycle a pistol length gas system will be at minimum a 200 grain, even suppressed.

Ive shot 230 grain at 1,010 fps at it has a ton of drop even at 300 yards. Oddly enough energy at 100 yards and 300 is not that different at 550 down to 525 or something like that. Running a 7.5” barrel though.

I get the feeling this thread is not going to produce any more useful information.

Moderators please delete, I'll figure it out on my own.

What exactly do you want to know? How to measure? Every single gub I have researched has the dimension listed. You know the space your working with. So whats the deal?

But how much backspacing do I need to accompany a Ruger 1911?

I'll make it easy for you.

Sell me yours & I'll buy you the fullsize unit.
Then you have all the freedom in the world, get a Tec-9 if you like. It'll fit.

I'm only locking up my "phone". :hillbilly:

I think it’s more likely as was posted above, there just aren’t that many of those boxes in circulation that are being used as gun safes to get much help. The rest of us just had a slow day with nothing better to do.

I carry a G30SF (45 cal) with a threaded barrel and suppressor as my daily carry. When I am in bear country I carry a 50 caliber Beowulf. (alexander arms)
It is essentially an AR with a 14" barrel that fires 50 cal. With a 14 inch barrel it stuffs neatly between my passenger seat and the console.
It will knock down a moose, Grisly, or even stop a 64 buick. :))
Sometimes I carry a 10 inch barrelled AR that fires 300 blackout. It stuffs neatly between the seat and console also.
The 300 blackout is a cool gun. 10" barrel but accurate out to 800 yds. With subsonic ammo and a suppressor is is almost silent.

Maybe the moose or buck but that griz can still be ready to seek serious revenge.

All sub compacts fit. On the Scout I’ve seen a few 1911 ACPs stowed at an angle. Clip in/out makes a difference on many.

The side felt is 4mm thick but I include a roll of 1mm felt just in case you need those extra few mm to get your firearm to fit better.

You're a good man Charlie Brown. Thank you for the fine products you make.

If the griz could fit the box you wouldn’t have to worry about shooting it now would ya!

Still gotta shoot it, trapping bears is banned anymore. ;)
