I grew up with that thing only a couple blocks from my house when Jeff had it. Jake was his neighbor. Thanks to Jeff Jake got into cruisers and then thanks to him I, and now Katy wants a FJ40, I'm so proud!

Looks like a solid rig still. Be great for my wife to haul the kiddos in! :D Seems like a good price, thoughts?

it is a well built rig. Used to have some other stuff too that looks like it has been removed.

No. :(

I went and picked it up with my buddy. First Toyota for him. He fell in love with my 80 when I had it and sold his linked rockwell'd truggy on 44's to get an 80.

If anyone knows the original builder, or any details that would be great.

Thanks,

D

Jeff is up in Boulder Colorado or someplace near there. Jake would know for sure, it was his next door neighbor growing up and he stays in contact with Jeff.

Yea, I tracked it that far so far. Even pulled up the archived pages of his GeoCities site. Looks like it was built pretty well back in the day, but has been kinda ghettofied the last few years. The wiring is a mess. Doesn't even have a VSS anymore. Plus we were told it had a Detroit in the rear yet it has an air line going to it. Haven't been able to tell because there wasnt a compressor just small CO2 cylinder. Working on that now...as well as the numerous leaks and other problems.

Jeff is just outside of Durango. I still see him every once in a while. That was one of the first V8 80 series. Used an early Marks kit to mate it to the stock tranny. He was running 38's on it for a while. I just missed buying it when he sold it. Kristy B. bought it (Texican's daughter). He put the 700r4 and split case in it recently. I'm pretty sure it was running ARB's front and rear, but I could be wrong. I do remember he was using CO2 cartridges for activation.

Yea we are fixing a bunch of stuff on there now. Making the speedo work, making the tach work, replacing window motors, already had a much better exhaust installed with a cat and a quieter muffler, had the parking pawl in the tranny fixed, installing an ARB compressor, hooking up a VSS to solve the dying issues. Also thought it had 5.29s in it (or the guy we got it from said he thought it did) but it apparently has 4.10s.

Does anyone know if the axles/birfs are stock or long fields? Also the 35" Buckshots are about to be gone and replaced with someone a bit more aggressive.

We are going to pull the tranny/t-case soon and fix a bunch of leaks. Possibly make a new t-case shifter and install an Art Carr shifter, as the stock shifter doesn't allow the tranny to manually shift to 1st.

EDIT: I also was able to go back using a web archive to view Jeff's old Geocities site. If anyone else has pictures that would be cool if ya'll could email me them or post them/link them here.

Thanks

Yeah I learned how to wheel in that truck. Here are a couple I have from one of my first wheeling trips. Also pretty sure it had 4.88s, stock axles and birfs. It did once have arbs front and rear with c02 under the passenger floor mat. I don't know why someone would yank that :/ Also looking at Jason's pic that looks like that could be from the same wheeling trip mine are from, in that case I'm driving! That was ten years ago...

That pic Jason posted is from Moab. That obstacle is Golden Crack. Somewhere I have pics of that truck on that obstacle. Plus, stuff from K1, and Oklahoma, and who knows where else....
