Well I went out with a few friends this afternoon/night. Ended up getting stuck and my buddies winch wouldnt work so we are going to have to go get my 62 in the morning. I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

This is where I got stuck. Dropped in a deep hole when I was trying to get out it spun me around on my rocker. (I think I got some Body damage for sure, but cant see it till I get it out in the AM.)

We tried to use a tow strap and that got me moved around, but now I am sitting on my rear fram/axle. Its definately in there good and the water didnt help anything. Nor did it help that the other 2 guys with me both have TJ's. And the weight of the 62 def was not a plus in this case.

Well let me know what yall think. I will try to get this updated tomm to see what kind of damage we have :(

From the look of that water... are you sure it will be there in the morning?

I hope so :) Thanks for making me worry though. Water shouldnt raise too much tonight. I hope to be out there kinda early to rescue it. I didnt leave it where it was as deep as the one pic looks.

yeah i'm stuck but not that bad. My wife would be seriously pissed if i showed her a pic of my cruiser in that situation!

Is there a story to go with that pic?

89s rule,

man if that axle sat under running water all night, I hope your axle breather was connected. I'm just guessing here, but I wonder if you should drain it and change the fluid before you drive too far.

cool photos

Take some gear oil with you and swap the instant you get out of the water! You're axle is almost certainly well watered after a night in the river. Good luck. The body damage won't matter, but a full night in the river can't be good for the rest of it.

All fluids should be flushed..

check the engine oil principaly..

I usually use a sprinkler to get the mud off the underside. Your way might be over kill;) ;)

OK Updates:

- Went back out today....didnt make it there until around 11. The 62 was still there. And we took two vehicles just incase they needed the weight to get me out. (Winch got fixed via my garage last night and then another guy in a s-10 blazer, gotta wheel with who you can get around here at times :) )

Good new and Bad news.

Good News first?
- I got myself out. The water had gone down since last night and i was able to get some traction and get out of the hole i was in. (That hole has to be about 3.5-4' deep!)
- Made it home alright as well. My breathers are extended. Front is halfway up the engine and rear is up around my gas fill spout. ( I need to drain and refill the diffs anyways though.)

Bad News:

- I forgot to take my camera!!!! I got a few on my phone but have to figure out how to upload them onto my CPU for free. (All pictures below were taken after I got home, which by the way is about 2-3 miles.)

- WE HAVE BODY DAMAGE!
Nothing bad but body damage none the less. When I got myself moving I spun around. I would get into another deep hole. So in doing that there was another rock that was out of the water maybe a foot that i was worried about my rim/tire sidewall. As well as my entire drivers side.
- So i got around that but then my back end droped down and a rock caught my rear tail light, bumper, and rear corner barely.

It was a close call as only that small part got really hit. Also bent up my Bumper and got my tailpipe rather good. Its crimped quite small. Guess I will be cutting it off back under the car now. (Since I added the lift the tailpipe rubs the tire at flex anyway and the rear hanget rgot broken off a trip or 2 ago.

-Bottom driverside rocker got crunched but might have been OK if it wasnt so rusty.
novermber2006113.jpg

Can we say front axle rebuild time???? This is my drivers side. Pass side isnt pukeing but it doesnt look good either. This has been on my to do list for awhile, so I guess now is the time!

Now back over to the passanger side shock....
novermber2006110.jpg

Anyone see anything wrong with this picture?
- Your right! Johnny, tell them what they have won!!!
Shock is broken, this could be how I have the mounts rigged as they bump the Ford towers at major flex. I think I have 2 options here: (Besides obviously getting a new shock or 2)
1. Move the Ford mounts and also trim the sides to alow for some movement.
2. Get some shock hoops made to avoid the side blockage all together. ??

Advice here?

Other Damage for the day was basically damaging the one decent part on my cruiser. (The front Bumper)
novermber2006114.jpg

I think I did this in the mudd crossing in my first pics (Pic # 3 when I am out of the Cruiser.)

Over all I would say I came out OK. I am kicking myself for not buying spare 62 tail lenses cheap when I had a chance last year. And I guess its good that I will finally be made to do some more preventative maint on her as well.

- Rockers - Not that big a deal they quite rusty and may get cut off one day anyways to put on some sliders.
- Rear corner/ 1/4 - not good but a nice little love tap. these should be getting cut off for a rear bumper with 1/4 protection since they are rather rusty down low as well.

- I have got to get my Lock-Right installed! I am not so sure I would have been stuck this bad if I had it installed.

my personal experience is that I get myself stuck a lot worse with lockers :)

When I had a locker in my 40 I seemed to get stuck a lot worse and a lot harder to get out then with my open 62. But it sure is fun to be able to go a litle bit further before getting stuck. :)

Yes it is harder to get unstuck with lockers. But man, it is sooo much easier to get around..
