Posted my first post here not much than a week ago.. now I'm addicted and I picked this up last night:

Any links to sites with accessories for the 100? Read about the wiring harness for the 80's.. is that moot in the 100s? I'd like to upgrade the headlights for sure.

Is there a drooling icon? NICE Is that an 06?

Looks like 16" wheels, so not an 06 (me thinks).

check with Slee Offroad. They're the only one's I know of with any kind of kewl 100 series gear.

If you're interested in a pair of sliders...I think there's a set for sale in the FS forum... ;)

Also looks like river rock, which is a great color. At least a pre-'03, then.

Yep, '98. I believe '98s (or maybe also '99s) didn't have the body colored running boards.

'03-'06 have a different front grille along with the 18" wheels, and the '06 models also have different headlamp assembly.

I forgot to add congrats!!

Also, My first 'Cruiser was a '98. Check to see if the starter, or at least the brushes were replaced. Common problem with the early model 100s is the brushes going bad around the mileage that you have (mine went out at around 85K miles).

That's the only real issue you need to be concerned about, aside from that, they're solid.

Congrats again!

Another southlander? Norm Reeves Honda insert on the plate.

You don't say...

Welcome! You have a twin to my cruiser!

Check to see if the timing belt/water pump has been done. I believe that is a 90k mile item.

Inexpensive headlight upgrade...

http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/

Philips Premium HB4 for the low beams and fog lights.

Any idea where to get data comparing rated life of the "Power Plus" bulbs with standard halogen bulbs?

Typically, higher-output halogen type bulbs suffer from greatly reduced life, compared to OEM halogen bulbs.

(Although I notice that the Power Plus bulbs are filled with Xenon instead of halogen...)

I can only share my empirical data with you. I have used them in my 2001 Tacoma, my brothers 2002 Tundra, my parents 2002 4runner, and now my 2000 Land Cruiser. They are brighter than stock bulbs and none of them have burned out yet.

All except my newer ones are over two years old. Mine are 10 months new.

These bulbs are NOT sold in the USA and the site refered to is in the UK. They have excellent customer service.

My neighbor is a CHP officer and he thought my high beams were on.

So in summary, I think the Phillips bulbs I've used are very good. I have no intention of screwing with my wiring harness or installing another system, etc. This works for me.
