well Got the engine mostly put togeather. and it is now back in the cruiser and mated to the transmission. I am missing a gaskets for the oil cooler, one stud for the water pump and I didn't get the bypass coupler pipe back from the machine shop. so I will have to wait a few days to gather up the parts. I would like to thank Clint and Mike for there help today. We got more done then I anticipated. I will spend tomorrow routing and finalizing the electrical and fuel connections, then I am at a stop until I get the last few pieces. Sorry but I didn't take any pictures today.

Man, sounds like you guys had a good time today :D I'm jealous, I only got to cut / grind some brackets off an old axle!

Almost finished it today, but ran out of steam. I should only have a few hours of work left. looking forward to firing it up tomorrow.

Looking GOOD Eric...... keep it up and get that puppy back on the road.

it's ALIVE!!!

Well got it all together, jumped the wires in the daig terminal, then cranked 4 or 5 times for about 10 seconds till I saw the oil pressure gauge move. then plugged in the EFI fuse and the coil and had Hannah crank it while I rotated distributor till it fired up. locked the timing in at 3degrees and ran it for about 6 minutes as it purred like a kitten. Then antifreeze started hitting the floor from under the rear of the engine.. dag nabbit... shut it off and crawled under, looks like it is coming from the inside the bell housing. crap.... ok take a deep breath and start looking with a flashlight. I can see a trail running up the drivers side of the block to that PHH, and then above it still further. The hose that goes to the rear heater on the drivers side is leaking. I must have nicked it when I was putting it back together. ( you know it is easier to get to this hose with the hood off) Finally got it replaced and everything buttoned back up. Fired it up abain and let it run for about 15 minutes. Cycled the heat/cool a few time everything looks to be good. Time for a road test. :)

well the road trip went well, only drove about 5 miles. Engine is running smooth and responsive. When I got back I opened the hood and saw a little bit of antifreeze pooling at the bottom of the water pipe by-pass assembly right above the thermostat. I replaced this pipe (basically coupler) and the 2 O-rings. It is just weeping a little (less then a 1/4 teaspoon). I am going to cycle the engine (hot/cold) a couple more times to see if it stops on it's own.

The RED arrow is where it is leaking.

If that's the only problem you found, then DAMN, good work sir

Bring it out to the meeting on Wednesday!!

well replaced the by-pass pipe and checked out the O-rings all looks good. but still weeping a little. upon closer inspection it appears to be coming from the thermostat guide housing. I will order a new gasket tomorrow and work on it again Thursday. no local stock on most every part can be trying sometimes.
