Very cool - were you there when the hospital was hit? May-ish. I had my gallbladder removed in theater and a few days after I left the hospital we lost/damaged the blood lab and the recovery area where i'd spent a few days. Crazy times, brother. Glad you're home safe.
Yes, I was there Feb-Oct, when we moved to Al Assad. Then I left Iraq for the last time Thanksgiving day (for Bagram, AFG...).

Welcome Bisho and DetroitDarin. Thanks for your service. So Bisho, I know you're not the third from the left but the others all look young to me. My guess is the one in all the battle rattle on but no one looks old.

I flew Cobras and wore the vest, ceramic plate and .38 in a belt holster with a CAR 15, (a short M16 with collapsible stock), strapped to the seat. We flew close air support for the infantry and took ground fire almost everyday. 1,700 hours of combat flight hours. Happy you made it back brother.

That’s me with my bullet proof mustache and Harley hat. Kept me safe for a couple hundred missions.

Welcome David! Good to see the 5 year break. I just went back in after a 4 year break, into reserves. A lot changed in 4 years. It isn’t as “tight” as it used to be. Military bearing used to mean something, but now I understand why the older men get the grumpier they get.
Great photos, and a great service record!

Sadly I think the lowering of standards has created a dilemma along with infusing the corporate light into senior command. I also do believe without being misogynistic that there is a place for females in the military just not in hazardous positions. It seems to be a distraction for command. It's filling a quota not providing quality individuals for the job at hand.

My name is Chris followed my Dads yellow footsteps and served in the Marines 1996-2000.
I was given my FJ40 as a birthday present by my uncle for my 16th birthday. Drove it off road for about a year and parked it to fix it up. As a kid I didn’t have the money or ambition to fix it but knew what I had and didn’t get rid of it. After college and the Marines my dad brought it from Pa to Va and I started fixing it up to what it is today. 31 years and still evolving This is my low bucks wheeler.
(I wish but It’s not a real Trails cover)
