New guy here, I live in Mt Pleasant, been in the area since 1996. I've owned a couple of 4-Runners over the years but have always admired Land Cruisers, particularly the FZJ80s. I've recently purchased a '94, nothing sexy, but needs a little work. Go easy on me for the running boards, all I can say is, "if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy". Let me know about your next meeting and if there is a calendar of events. Thanks,

-Tim

My wife is still irritated that I removed the running boards... She hates the sliders - I'm not sure if adding the diamond plate to them would have helped much? Anyhow, nice rig! I like the color and it appears to be in decent shape. What kind of work does it need? By the way, I recommend contacting Glenn at LexTech to go through it with a fine toothed comb. He charges for the service, but he'll tell you some very good things to know like whether you are in imminent need of a knuckle job or whether your original head gasket has been replaced.

Good advice, I dropped off my rig at Lextech, spoke with Glenn. I was impressed, he knows his stuff. The A/C isn't working, check engine light comes on and off, then some cosmetic things like broken tailgate hinge, missing rear wiper arm and air defector, rear pax window offtrack, sunroof isn't smooth, and a quarter size rust spot on the liftgate. However, the body & are in good shape, ABS, leather is ok, dash isn't cracked and it has diff lockers. I'll have a priority list from Glenn tomorrow I'm sure.

Thanks for the help and let me know about upcoming club events.

we have a meet and greet this wweekend...saturday...at bessingers bbq in west ashley. there is a calendar of events in the sticky section above...and also one for the MEET and GREET this weekend. Look forward to seeing you.

I missed most everyone on Saturday. I was late coming from a turkey hunt, made it to Bessingers at about 12:45 and everyone was gone. Zach (another new guy) made it there a few minutes before me. Not a waste of time though, just the two of us. Zach has a nice rig and a few pointers to go along with it. I hope to make the next meeting.

Sorry we missed you....Michael Bessinger and I left about 1245 actually...we had a group of tables pulled together in there. If you guys want some stickers and cards shoot me a PM and can meet you to give you some.

Been trying to get to meetings but the Coast Guard has had me gone the last couple months. I have a 3/73 FJ40 that I have been working on since my wife's grandfather gave it to me. Did the 2F swap, Wildwood disc's front&rear, and quite a bit of other things here and there. Just a great project for me. I also have a 06 Tacoma up 3 in. tote lift, on 285's w/ Stubbs sliders. June meet definitely wanna come schedule permitting. Jon.

Old but new guy here. I used to have a camo 40 that I was trying to fix up. It belonged to my father in law and was really just painted rust. I got rid of it and never could shake the bug.

I just picked up what it consider my real "first" cruiser. It's a 73 40 fst and I'm jacked. Needs some work but is drivable.

I'm in walterboro and look forward to trying to make as many meets as I can( kids, wife, and business permitting.

MAN, it's great to see some 40's on here! I love 'em! Jon and Hunter, those things look great. I look forward to meeting them in person! (And y'all of course) :-)

Well we are back in a cruiser. Girlfriend picked up a 1989 FJ62. It has been her dream car since she was very young. I sold my LX470 a while back, but did have a Silver 07 4Runner for a bit.

She sold her 2013 RRS, payed for her grad school, and bought this to DD. Going through it now. Super clean. If you see her, honk.

I was behind you today...I had gone out and put up two blinds and some cameras on a farm in Edisto and then swung over to some property of my parents in Walterboro to put out a camera...then wife and I went to Duke's for dinner. Behind you at light where we went through to Dukes and you turned right onto interstate. Had the wife and both kids strapped into that sharp red 40. :)

I saw you in between my wife's complaints about how hot it was. Didn't really realize it was you until I turned on 17a. I think I might have made my case for a vintage air ac at least.

Alright....! I finally happened upon this thread also. Now to 'Watch' it so i can stay in touch with y'all. Been getting to know the ih8mud forums. Now Im on the search for the Swamp Fox Calendar of Events. Im itching to start putting some miles on our 'new' 40 and meeting some of y'all. I already know Glen.... He's had my 40 in his shop longer than I have had it in the driveway....

Yes, I got my 40 back from Glen today. New (for me) diff & seals made a world of difference. I could hear myself think driving back to my shop. Too bad it was SO HOT - I would've driven her today until I ran out of fuel. She did not like the heat so much.

It was stupid hot today… But I'm glad you got her back! Can't wait to see it.
