Have been gathering a few parts to do a "lift" this weekend. (dont want to spend a ton of cash right now but need to improve the ride of my DD. SOA coming soon! 37's BABIE!!). "Lift": Man-A-Fre full legnth add-a-leafs, 1' over stock OME anti(s) and some 33x11.5 BFG mudders - I figure 2"s of lift all together not including tire height (changing out the 28s!)

My mechanic buddy is buying everthing today and need to know a few things (I searched on this topic but didn't find anything)

My question (s):
1) What is the diameter and (slightly longer) legnth of the galvinized u-bolt I will need? (tried measureing myself but don't know if my measurements are correct)

2) Will I need to get new shocks? Currently have new stock height KYBs all the way around. Guessing 2" of over all lift with upgrades above.

3) Do you think the 33's will be to big. I have searched around and found some pics with 2.5"s of lift and 32's.. it sure looks nice. I just don't want to get to big a tires and rub the hell out of them or make it look awkward.

Another question added
Got some used greasable OME shackles in the mail. does it matter which ones go in the front or rear?

Thanks!

I'm running 34's on the same lift (add-a-leafs)... but they really stuff up in the fenders. I think you'll probably end up with longer shackles for just a touch more room.

Chris

That's the only decent flexy pic I have... obviously when there's weight it'll rub ALL OVER the fender on the inside...
Log flex.webp

might as well get some pretty long ubolts for when you do the SOA cause those, i just found out, can be pretty pricey. So I would think it would be a good idea to do it now.

and yest your going to need longer shocks as well so another good idea to get a little longer than normal now as you'll use those as well.

another would be extended brake lines now again for the soa to come when you get it. It's all up to you though cause it may take a long time before you do it so I guess it just depends when you plan on doing the SOA.
just my 2cents

My u-bolts are 9/16ths in dia & 7/8 nut. Length you should measure your current ones and add a bit for the new leaf.

Don't know if your shocks will work. If you are cheap (and nothing wrong with that) try them. If they break...replace them. If they're good, you're fine.

33" tires might be fine...depends on the width. If you use 33X9.50, for sure you'll be OK - since these can work on a stock (non-sagging) suspension. If you go 10.50, you might or might not get rubbing. If you go 12.50, I'm nearly positive you'll get rubbing at full stuff.

On the OME shackles...not sure which way you should run them on your suspension...on the OME suspension the longer one goes in the front.

Project got postponed... considered the SOA now instead of later but just not practical. Back to the leafs and shaclkes.....

TheGr8DoughBoy - what is the width on those tires? debating BFG mudders in 10.5 or 11.5.

Does anyone know the legnth of the stock u-bolt? I am unsure where to start measuring.

Thanks!
