Weathertech vs. Husky

Ive thought about drilling some holes in the liner where the heater vents are but cant bring myself to do it. I don't have rear passengers very often so if i need the heat back there I just stick something under the liner near the vent so the warm air can get out.

Thanks guys.

I think I'm going to go with the Husky liners for the fronts and middles. I like the weathertech floormats but the footprint that bluetribal showed in his review of the weathertechs isn't as engulfing as the Husky. It doesn't look like weathertech makes front or middle row liners, only mats for our cruisers. However, NorcalDoug brought up a good point in that the down side of the Husky liners would be it covering the middle row heaters. Has anyone cut around it?

For the cargo liners, any difference between the two? Husky have the templates to cut out if need be, do the weathertechs come precut or are templatized to be cut?

Thanks

my husky are super beefy, i dont know how the weathertech ones could be MORE beefy or better built. i've had mine for 5 or 6 years now and they look new after i rinse them off with the hose. weathertech look cheap to me, go figure

edit: after seeing tree's pic, I realized I have the "Husky Heavy Duty Mats" which are different than the liners. This isn't my truck, but its a picture of the passenger side like treeroots

hey guys,

ended up getting the husky liners (front, middle, and cargo) in tan.

truckaddons.com had them for $175 for the three with promo they had. had autoanything pricematch them since truckaddons.com had bad reviews. ended up paying $190 because of sales tax.

UCBerzekeley - book marked your page on baselining. thanks for the legwork.

For those that have the Husky Liners, do you kick the lip everytime you get in and out of the truck. It looks tall like it would be bothersome.

Never had a problem with that. It's only about an inch off the floor.

No. It isnt in the way at all.

There is another choice in all-weather mats besides Husky or Weathertech.

I currently use the Nifty Catch-All Xtreme mats in my '97. I decided on these because they were a hybrid between the Weathertech mats and the Husky liners. They are molded to the footwell so they protect the carpet better, but they also have a molded lip to catch and pool spills. The lip is molded into the mat rather than turned up like the Husky so it won't fold over or catch a foot.

Many on-line sites have part #405401 listed only for 98+ 100 series land cruisers, but it is the same part# that Nifty used to list for both the 80 and 100 series and what I use in my 80 series. Fit is perfect.

Shipwreck-

That looks like a good option. Is it hard plastic, does your foot slid all over the place when wet?

I have Husky in front, and WT in back. both good, but black is my color choice, because dirt and stains don't show as much. I have a black lab who lives in back, and I am in snow country, so it gets plenty of use. I have a rag in the DS front, otherwise snowmelt sloshes around in there. If you cutout for the trird row (I have), water goes right thru. I now wish I didn't, but you can't mount seats without cutting!

I've struggled with this for months...can't bring myself to decide. All three have their pro's and con's. Thinking I might try the X'Treme in the front...WeatherTech needs trimming, not going to do that in the front...the Husky just looks like it was half-assed...I don't like the turned up lip and it looks flimsy-thin. Also I don't want tan...I would want black if possible or gray (does X'Treme come in black?)

Second row I am thinking Husky...like the idea of going across the entire width of the second row, don't mind trimming a bit to get heat.

Cargo area...probably thinking a black Husky, maybe grey...wish you could just get black across the board though...it makes the most sense...beige will show the dirt and stain...gray just doesn't match but might be my only reall choice if I am going to match all three rows as close as possible...enough rambling...I need to decide!!

Another thought...wonder if I could take gray or beige mats into a Rhino liner and have them spray it black?? Should stick I would think??

Even tho the "installation directions" of the Huskys says to remove the carpet mats, I left the mats in. No problems with slippage and they come out easy for the occasional dump and wipe. I really like the Huskies, although a thicker material might make them more robust, but no integrity or other issues because of it. They did come in black.

I've had weathertechs in other vehicles and they allow for less frequent dumping of sand since it stays in the ribs and might be better for "work shoes" and the like since the dirt stays lower, but they dont seal as well around the edges and you'll have to vacuum from time to time whereas the huskies really keep the edges clean with the 1.5" high lip edge (except on the left side of the foot rest which I dont really like anyways since I'm tall). A even taller friend has huskys and removed the foot rest and just mashed down the husky and seems to work fine.

The 2nd row seat husky liner does partially the rear heater vent and that's with the OEM carpet map in, so without the mat it would block it less. Still seems to blow heat fine, but if you are in a cold climate and actually use the rear heater you may want to trim it slightly for max heater blow.

Cargo mat has cut-outs for 3rd row seats, but you'll lose the water/dirt protection over those 4 spots. I just pull the husky cargo liner out when I install the 3rd row seats for their occasional use since I'm not wheeling with a full load of dirty gear when the seats are in or down.

Good luck in deciding, either way is an improvment over just the OEM carpet mats.

Hexomats

After buying three different sets of all weather mats for my 60 the best I have found is the HEXOMATS . Price - fit/finish-and durability feet down wins my vote, Huskey is good if you can't knock 1-2 lbs of slop off your feet befor you hop in, and you like the troft look and profile....weather tech are really nice if you have deep pockets.....Hexomats are the best IMO for a classy look that is tuff enough for 90% of mother naturers' best. Hope that helps...

I agree they are nice. I actually have them in my other vehicles. They are definitely better than the Lloyd Rubbertite ones.

In my opinion, as far as look, they WeatherTech Extreme look the nicest. I dont have any experience with these since they didnt make it for any of the vehicles I own. Next up is the Hexomats. They are more rugged and heavier than the Lloyd Rubbertites. The Huskies are a little flimsier but look cleaner and I ended getting the Huskies for my 80 since it will taken to the snow alot where I think it holds more water than the Hexomats. However, I will be getting the Hexomats for my 60 soon.

Forgot to mention the Nifty Catch Alls that Shipwreck mentioned. Dont have any experience with them but they look nice too!

Interesting on the Hexomats...do you have a link where you buy them and are they custom fit and available for all three rows? I put a set of WeatherTechs in a BMW 650i and was severely disappointed...for what they cost they should be custom fitted...the backs need to have almost half the rubber cut away...the fronts were close but still not right on...very disappointed and have to say they won't get anymore of my business. The semi-universal thing is a bit whack for the cost.

mroffshore, try autoanything.com. you might find a cheaper price by $10 if you do some searching on google but autoanything has good customer support from when ive dealt with them.

Do you have any pics of this mat in your car. I checked several sites and all of them say this mat will not fit my 94 LC.

Thank you!

How about HexoMats? Anyone tried those in their 80s? If so, do they move around alot?
They look thin and flimsy.
