The scope on TLC calipers.....

I have a set of the TLC calipers but have not installed they yet. Here is something interesting that I found after purchasing them. These calipers are made by a company called Stainless Steel Brakes out of New York. They were a customer of mine when I live in New York back in 80's and at that time the company made stainless steel brake calipers for Corvette's only. After looking at the Calipers and I pretty confident that they have the same piston size as the corvette calipers, however they have redisgned the housing to fix Land Cruisers. I am not sure if this is a TLC exclusive or just TLC had there name put on it. I do know however that Man-a-Free has jumped on the band wagon to sell these as well. Once I get a chance to test these out I will post a road test report on them and if they are that good I will pursue getting them direct at a better price if there is interest.

Cheers,

Michael

I just installed a new set of the TLC monster calipers on the BJ-42 today. I did the fully monty: new pads and rotors, refurbed the parts that I could, new lug studs, rebuilt/refurbed the manual Aisin locking hubs, replaced the rubber flex line with braided stainless flex line, and then bled the brakes. It's a very easy install and the calipers will fit behind any wheels that already work for you now--and with clearance to spare. Changing out pads is simply a matter of unscrewing two long allen head bolts and pulling the pads out the back of the caliper. No springs or cotter pins or whatever. Michael is correct in that the calipers are made by SSBC--I didn't realize that wasn't common knowledge. The SSBC logo is engraved on the one side and the TLC logo on the side facing toward the street. I can't speak highly enough about the critters. You'll never have to machine 'em down a little to get a fit like you do with OEM calipers. Now I've got 'em on my BJ-73 and BJ-42. Also, bleeding these things is a breeze--each caliper has four (yes FOUR) bleed plugs so you'll always be able to pick the two that sit at the highest point. Compare the cost of OEM replacement calipers with the price of these monster calipers and you'll find that you can purchase a PAIR of them for what you'd pay for just ONE OEM caliper. No brainer in my book. And NO, I do NOT work for anyone in this industry! I am no shill--I just love this particular product.

I have four runner four piston calipers all around with an FJ80 master cylinder.

Since Ive gone to rear disks the FJ80 master cylinder is necessary.

I thought about bending the rod but when I can find a solution that can be right back to stock I usually take that route.

I'm assuming that the drums for a 60 are the same as a 70? can anyone confirm it's the same part # also the rear pistons?
