I am going off roading in a few weeks and there are a few stream crossings. What is the best way to raise the axle vents? I have an HEI distributor. Is there any way to make the HEI more water resistent? Is there anything else I need to waterproof?

Thanks,

Joe

To raise your axle vents you could remove the OEM breather cap, tap a brass fitting, then use 3/8" fuel line to raise the breather into the engine compartment - and make sure to put a small air filter on the end of the fuel line.

OR

Do as I did and just pop off the OEM breather cap, press on the 3/8" fuel line, and secure with a good hose clamp. It was very tight and didn't want to pull off so I called it good. I then ran the fuel line up into the engine compartment and left a loop to allow for axle droop and capped it with an upside down air filter to keep water, bugs and large grit out.
