water pump bolt torque

Those bolts have a tendency to break way to easily. 6-9 ft/lbs sounds about right, but the old had torque wrench is best here. Once it gets snug, just go a bit more and leave it alone...

thanks to all.

love that signature line. amazing where a stock truck will go.

Try this. http://www.cncexpo.com/MetricBoltTorque.aspx I just Googled for metric torque specs and there was a plethora of info. I think the FSM only calls out torque values for bolt positions that are different from standard values. John

There's a torque spec table in the repair manual. The online ones we have don't go back past '90 though. I can tell you that it's not much. In fact it's probably in inch pounds.

That table seems high. I snapped one off at 19flbs when I had the wrench set wrong.
I went just past 9 in the end. Felt quite snug. See if it leaks tomorrow.

Here's what i have found with this. Go snug with new gaskets.
It will probably start to leak when cold after a couple weeks of driving. Snug them up again when cold.
Changed the pump in the 92 in the fall and have retightened them twice. i think i have it licked this time. No big leaks mind you, just a little drop worth on the edge of gasket.
Don't use a long ratchet either. A short wrench so you can feel it snug down will suffice.
