water pump and RTV

To recap, my water pump took a dump and everything is out. So the new one is ready to go on. Should I use RTV or will the gaskets be fine?

Gasket should be fine if both surfaces are clean and flat. But a thin coat of RTV would not hurt. RTV will help keep the gaskets in place while you put it back together.

Gaskets will be fine. RTV to keep them in place is a great idea, wish I'd done this when I replaced my pump recently - the gaskets a BXXX to get in place w/out a lot of finesse otherwise...
